We are on the Golden starting 7/27 and are considering the Sanctuary.

Does the glass hinder the view at all - I'm thinking Glacier Bay. I can see from other travelers photos and my experience on some ferries, on but it looks like you can’t see anything.

Also, do you pay for an entire day? Can you come and go? Kids?

Does anyone know if there are pressed penny stations at the cruise terminal (Vancouver), on the Coral or in Juneau, Ketchikan, Skagway or Anchorage?

I don’t want to carry a bunch of unnecessary coins but my kids love collecting these when we go places and we try to bring shiny pennies.

We leave next month on our 15 day cruise/land tour.

My granddaughter was just diagnosed with scoliosis and has to wear a stiff plastic jacket body brace at night.

I know it won’t count against our luggage allowance since it’s a medical device but I need to find a suitable bag/case to put it in for the flight and land portion of our trip.

It’s too large for a typical carry on size case.

I do have a rolling duffle that will hold it but I’m concerned about it getting crushed.

It’s made out of hard plastic. Any suggestion?

Yeah, so hubby broke his wrist yesterday, (mountain biking accident) looks like he has to have surgery before our Alaskan cruise trip on Princess.

Thankfully it's his arm vs leg that would be way worse.

Anyone have any ideas on how that will affect our cruise.

OK - need some help .... Hubby and I are very happy with “budget” accommodation but this time travelling with another couple - one of whom needs something much more refined!

We are looking at half/half Legian and Sanur - 5 or 6 days each place. Both places need to be clean. Great staff, good breakfast and swim up bar and beach front.

Not quite champagne taste on beer budget but not Padma prices.

Realise this is very vague but would love any suggestions for both places - thank you.

Bonus if it has a real Balinese feel to it :)

I was told that there is a new road opened from Managua to Bluefields and the busses should take less time because of that.

All related info about the ferry and bus are welcome, price time etc!

The flights online seem to start from 160$ return which is a bit too much for our budget. :/ Gracias!

I have a question regarding the Anmeldung.

My main residence is in France where I pay taxes and have health insurance (paid for my employer as I work remotely on a France-based contract) but I’m also renting an apartment here in Berlin where I spend less than 180 days a year.

I haven’t done the Anmeldung so far as I understand I would them have to pay double taxations, is that right? Is there a way for me to register (if it’s mandatory at all since I live here less than 180 days a year) without paying all the taxes double?

I've searched around and I cannot find a solid answer for this anywhere.

Every month I buy two monthly BVG passes for 81 euros each. One for my wife and one for myself.

Today at the S-bahn station it was time to renew my ticket and i saw something called an S pass I thought this was a reduced ticket for s bahn only so I bought them only to find out it is only valid for those receiving unemployment benefits.

Is there any chance if I go into an info center and explain they would be willing to take the tickets in exchange for the monthly pass I typically buy given I pay the difference, or am I most likely just out 55€?

I’m going to post a perhaps unpopular opinion, but I’m really interested in your ideas.

I am not the biggest fan of German culture, but I cannot understand people who have been here for years and refuse to learn German.

I know learning another language is hard, and everybody has their own pace. I’m not referring to them, but to people who flat-out refuse to learn it and have no plans to change that.

I honestly met so many expats in Spain and Latin America, and they all, even the most language-challenged ones, made an effort to learn some of the language.

Perhaps it’s because they’re in a sink-or-swim situation (nobody speaks English in these regions), or because it’s so much easier to make friends with Spanish speakers than with German speakers?

I think this is the key thing. Like in all aspects of life, germans seem to have no tolerance for mistakes.

In need of ideas!

My fiancé is a chef, and his place of work just assigned him to work in Kamikochi, Nagano for the next *eight-months.* Its a beautiful area, but there is literally nothing but wilderness for miles. I was going to get him a subscription to Hulu, but he ended up doing that himself before me. Anyone else have any suggestions for something I could gift to help him pass the time? Maybe like an online manga subscription? Note: he can’t speak English, so Japanese recs are greatly appreciated!

Notes: thanks for the suggestions so far! Regretfully he doesn't have full days / weekends off-- only a few hours in the evening. As such, camping or outdoor sporting equipment might not be the best fit. ^^;; Also, he'll be living in a dorm, so pets are unfortunately a no-go.

Apologies in advance for doing your heads in with this visa query. My brain is fried! It's a question about the Schengen zone ’90 days in 180 days’ rules. I've read everything on it and it's still making no sense. The online Schengen zone calculator is not helping. Informal advice from my workplace (Int. Org.) is don’t worry about it, nobody checks. But I’m worried! And the Australian embassy gave me nothing. This is about a family member, let’s say M (Australian citizen). If anyone is an expert of, or interested in, visa enquiries, please help!
M first arrived in France 28 April 2017, and she returned to Aus. 11 June 2017. That’s 45 days. (Assuming the 180 day period begins when she arrived on 28 April 2017, that means that this 180 day period ends 28 October 2017).
Then, M returned to France 26 August (so still within that 180 day period) and will leave 5 November (So technically that is illegal. It is a little more than 90 days, and over the 180 days).
Does this mean, that M should return to Australia on 9 October? That would make it 45 days from the start of her second arrival on 26 August (totalling 90 days in 180 days, and still within the 180 day period).Does this also mean that she can technically return on 29 October 2017? Because then the 180 days will be reset?
If this is correct, the stupid online Schengen zone calculator doesn't work!
