Corn Islands via bus and ferry
Hola! Has anyone gone to the Corn Islands within the past month via bus and ferry?

I was told that there is a new road opened from Managua to Bluefields and the busses should take less time because of that.

All related info about the ferry and bus are welcome, price time etc!

The flights online seem to start from 160$ return which is a bit too much for our budget. :/ Gracias!

Hey! Yes there is a new road all the way to bluefields now, 7 hour ferry from Bluefields to corn after that.

the ferry's are infrequent, I think there are 2 per week. Wednesday and Saturday, possible to time it perfectly but could also require a night in bluefields.

I would do the plane as those buses get overloaded and lots of times break down its so much better to get there and enjoy.

Been there and done both...now I always fly its worth every penny.

It's very easy to go by bus to bluefields and they are not overcrowded.

You get your seat number. I've travelled twice and it's not bad at all.

Buses leave from Mayoreo starting early in the morning, there are also night buses but I prefer to travel by day.

Leaving at 9:15am you arrive in bluefields around 5:30pm, one way cost 320 C$

The buses don't have bathrooms. They stop twice in places where you can eat, drink and take a pee.
