        Google Reviews Manchester Airport

Here are some reviews of Manchester Airport - don't forget to let us know how you got on by using the drop box at the bottom of the page, or joining our community and making a review.

        • A massive airport, it certainly felt quite intimidating at certain times. It can get busy and quite cramped (there isn't a lot of available floor space, and the ceiling is quite low). More waiting seats would also be pleasant. On the other hand, I'll praise the staff who works there: yes, security takes time to walk through, but the staff are always polite, especially when forced to search through your luggage.
        • Recommended going at least 2 hours early on peak times such as Christmas. Accessible via bus, tram and train from Manchester Piccadilly
        • This may be more reflective on KLM rather than MAG but only 1 person to check in the entire flight. Only part way through did a colleague jump behind the desk. The airport itself was fine; nothing more, nothing less.
        • Incredibly strict on Immigration. Also there are a lot of rules no one knows about. Just a tip though if you can't get in or can't see someone then there is a good reason, so can't give the place a total bad review because I am thankful for not being able to see someone I met online.
        • eliminate steps. the goal should be to get from car park to bottom of aircraft steps without encountering any other steps. that is what good airports are like. Manchester Airport is a place of low ceilings, quirky narrow corridors that are not suitable for large volumes of passengers. Carpets held together with tape The Duty Free area on departures is a safety hazard. there are pillars in the middle of the walkway. This is made worse by islands of duty free drink. the walkway is not clear. When there is an emergency, this layout will hinder the safe exit of passengers.
        • For the toilets alone at jet2 check in area I'd give 5/5 'cos they are spotless and the baby changing facilities. Spotless. Well done. Also Really liked Joe's cafe/restaurant in arrivals
        • Great airport with lots of exciting destinations. If youre traveling in prime holiday season get there at least a couple of hours before your flight so you have some time to do grab some food and buy a few things before you board your plane.
        • MAN is obviously a major airport but it is still easy to navigate and access. The airport is easily accessible by Metrolink tram and National Rail. Car parking is cheap and bus transfers are frequent. Helpful staff and the stores in duty free are great.
        • Good airport. plane small not sure if goin to take off let u know later. We made it plane didnt crash.
        • Great place friendly people they really look after all your needs. Everything you want for beginning a holiday abroad.... There's a viewing platform for plane spotters so I believe.
        • Security is not aligned with the rest of the world. Ice pack confiscated for baby's milk... For a 7 hour flight! As you can imagine the wife was less than pleased. They also took a multi tool which I traveled with for many years, although that I understand - I fear the tiny srewdriver wielding terrorists too...
        • A very good airport for car parking and check-in facilities. Security is tight and might involve a few minutes wait, however take comfort in this as it for the passengers safety. A helpful amount of security and airport staff. The only downside is available seating (T1 and T2) at at busy times, or delays to flights this becomes an obvious problem in the main concourse. Duty Free shopping is better than other similar airports - however take note that you do have to walk through these to get to the main gate area. I suppose this is just a merchandising ploy to get the reluctant buyer to part with their money. You can however use this to while away the time until boarding commences. On any return flight into Manchester there can be a delay at passport control - this is mainly due to the usual non-working technology in the 'chipped' passport automated area, or just bad luck that several flights have disembarked at the same time. Usually passport control officers do enjoy a little banter - remember they are humans as well. Compared with Heathrow, Manchester is far better in all areas.
        • Unparalleled chaos. Most bags were getting rechecked, security took around 45 minutes to clear. Then you have to walk through the world's longest mandated duty free.
        • Always been good for me. Staff are friendly and helpful. Lots of bars and restaurants. Plenty of choice in the duty free and other shops.
        • Quick, efficient and friendly. That's what I get from this place. I come here quite often and have never really had any issue that was if the airports making. It gets a point knocked off for the haranguing from the duty free sales people though. It's 7am - I don't want a shot of some green liquid thanks!
        • One of the very worst airports that I have encountered lately. I travel extensively as a result of my work and have an enormous amount of experience of airports as a result. Manchester stands out as one of the most inhuman of experiences, people treated as a herd of animals. That would just about be excusable if it were efficient but it does not even have that redeeming feature. The queue when I landed at around one o'clock in the morning was appalling and not at all what you want to face when your flight has already been delayed by 2 hours. Rude, inefficient and inhuman. The departure experience was no better.
        • CIGARETTE SMOKE HAZARD: Terminal 1 departure drop off has become a cigarette smoking tunnel. it was enclosed a few years ago and so in order to comply with the health Act 2006, it is now a no smoking area with appropriate signage indicating that it’s a no smoking area. The trouble is many smokers, including some staff ignore it and simply smoke in this area. The stench is terrible. There used to be an announcement every 5 minutes or so reminding us that it’s a no smoking area. That ceased some time ago. There is nobody responsible for enforcing the law. I have for 2 years been trying to have this improved, without success. What is most surprising in the current terrorist climate is that the police used to have a permanent patrol of this sensitive terrorist target. Now I rarely see any police officer. Maybe they don’t like being forced to smoke either. There are 10 councils sharing ownership, so which one do I approach to ask their enforcement officer to visit and ensure that the airport is compliant?
        • Decent to say the most. Toilets fairly unclean although the occasional cleaners sighted. Many numbers of gates and 3 terminals. The queue for security is very large and continuous. Lounge layout simple but looks like they are going to upgrade it in the future. One of the best parts is looking out of the windows at the planes. Would recommend if you have children for this.
        • Great place friendly people they really look after all your needs. Everything you want for beginning a holiday abroad.... There's a viewing area at "The Airport Pub" fantastic shots and child friendly. Have a great day out with ALL the family!!!
        • From far the worst airport I've ever flew to/from and unfortunately is the one I need to use regularly. The security checks (special terminal 1) usually are a nightmare. Damage baggage is also common. Last episode, 1h30 waiting for the baggage!!!! In the carousel area not even water was available... the machine was broken! Unacceptable! And what is the deal with the water taps on the restrooms!? Why the water is so hot that burns your hands when is twenties or even 30 degrees outside!?!?! Very often the escalators don't work (special in the connection bridge). On terminal 3 the only access from the security check area to the shopping/gates area passes through a narrow corridor that has a gate crossing it. When a flight is disembarking on that gate there is no access and you have to wait several minutes until its done! (Just hope you are not already late for your flight after the long queue on the security check)!!! Few times had to wait inside the plane for up to 1h for clearance to departure! Also the only airport I remember that charges you for the trolleys... And I could go on and on all day...
        • The security checks in all terminals are highly ineffective and incompetent. Small (
        • A clean and welcoming airport. There are a few shops whilst waiting for your flight in T3 however the prices are more expensive than on the high street, I wouldn't recommend leaving your shopping for the airport. There were lots of seats on the terminal to wait in. Overall, a very pleasant airport experience.
        • Poor service, speed, cleanliness, and the building requires major works. Definitely not a world class airport. The website has poor graphics and the information is difficult to find. There is no possibility to leave anonymous feedback.
        • Shocking to think this airport is in a developed country. Stairs everywhere with no escalators or lifts to get to security. The security check took over an hour! We were just lucky that our train got us in early, if it had been a package holiday where you check in two hours before the flight we would have missed it. Huge single file queue in which were signs that things had to be in plastic bags or removed from your bags but these are things no other airport I’ve used requires so while slowly ambling round we were all trying to go through our luggage. You also have to remove shoes but there is no where to do this comfortably. Only four security desks were open and the staff wouldn’t give a definite answer on what must be taken out even when directly asked, “it’s up to you but they might have to search your bags”. So many people had their bags searched and this was of course done in the small corridor that leads everyone to the departures. In departures our plane was called with only ten minutes to board on a screen under a sign which said it would take ten minutes to get to the gate. Once through the gate we had to wait in a room with not enough chairs! What idiot doesn’t plan ahead and think how many chairs do we need? Well probably as many as the plane has. There are many reasons I’ll never use Manchester airport again but chief among them is I don’t have confidence I’ll actually catch my plane. I was over two hours early and if they had searched my bag I wouldn’t have caught my flight.
        • Queues are very long, especially security. I use this airport very often and, on average, it's easy to spend 30 min (some days I've been waiting for an hour). Good thing is that they let you pass if your flight is departing in less than 30 min.
        • Airport big, busy and disorientating. Signage in Terminal 3 needs improving. However, the stars are for the staff. I am not easily impressed but everyone I asked for directions went above and beyond. Took me to where I needed to be - not just given directions. They are chatty and cheerful, and put you at your ease. The Passenger Assistance service is OUTSTANDING and a credit to the airport.
        • Very well connected airport, by bus or train to the city centre. International flight choices are lots, good for people in mid-north England. Although, staffs are not friendly. The security once yelled to my mother and me when she wanted to change lane while the other staff told me to get to her lane before.
        • Transfer hub is a lot to be desired: Arriving from the US via Manchester, we were caught in a huge melee of angry passengers. At least 2 international flights arrived at the same time and all transferring passengers converge on the hub which only had enough staff to man one security check point. This lead to much frustration among the passengers, many of whom had very short transfer times. Security itself was super slow probably due to the lack of staff. Most passengers having to go through carry on bags to show security folks their contents. Note: It hard to believe why we would have to go through security considering every one of us had gone through security at our departure point, boarded a plane and never had an opportunity to leave an airport to then justify going through security once more. Come on Manchester; think this through... Once through security and border control - one border control person / desk made for more long lines, you can enter the domestic terminal for on going flights. The place was packed with passengers; understandable considering the time of year however refreshment facilities were dirty and again it seemed like there was a lack of staff. To be honest, flying through Heathrow would be better despite the slight increase in fares. Nice welcome to the UK.
        • Easy access to all platforms and terminals. Friendly staff. Sometimes longer queues. Self service machines also. Tramlink also. Perfect for travelling.
        • My first experience flying was an amazing one. The staff at manchester airport I found were amazing, they made me feel welcome and reassured me on a few questions I had. Lovely shops to look around and some great food choices. Everything went as planned. No drama, just a lovely pleasant flight both departed and entering.
        • The single worst airport I've ever flown from, and I've travelled all over the world to both small and large airports in countries ranging from Tunisia, to America. I will never fly from Manchester again. I've rated it two stars because the parking was easy to book, locate and access.
        • As a regular traveller, the security check at this airport is one of the worst I’ve experienced. The staff seem to be on a power trip and think they are superior to everyone. They bark orders and demand things that no other airport does for no apparent reason. Their methods do not result in a better, more secure check and they certainly do not provide a more pleasant experience. It takes nothing to be nice and help start people’s holiday or business trip the right way. It’s a shame because it’s quite nice once you’re through.
        • Return flight to Innsbruck Outbound - rude, abrupt security staff , very unpleasant experience., I appreciate security is important but there’s nothing to say it can’t be done with respect, courtesy and s smile. Inbound - waited ages for an air bridge , when it finally arrived it was faulty and couldn’t engage with the plane once again we waited for someone to. Repair it , eventually the door opened but we weren’t allowed off the plane as there was snow on the step ! We had to wait for it to be swept,. At passport control there was a long wait as the e passport scanners were not functioning properly , a staff member said it’s always like this it’s pot luck ! Baggage handling - ski bags had to be taken off the belt as there was no room for cases , staff said they didn’t expect so many ski holders ! It’s a flight to Innsbruck full of skiers for goodness sake !
        • My bag had been forgotten in Cologne. Cosmin from Global Baggage solutions really helped me out yesterday and showed great patience in helping me find my bag. Greatly appreciated.
