    Brighton, the GAY capital.

Generally known by its nickname of “London by the sea”, Brighton is a seaside city less than 50 miles south of London in the County of East Sussex. It is actually a combination of several other towns under one roof including, Hove, Worthing, Shoreham-by-sea,Saldeen and many more, which are within easy reach of the luscious town center of Brighton itself.

When talking about Brighton there is one thing that remains the same: this is one of the most popular seaside destinations in Britain. Its nickname comes from the fact that many of London’s elite choose to live here rather than in the city and are home to many London workers that commute daily and is home to many famous people including: musicians such as Fatboy Slim, Supergrass' lead singer Gaz Coombes and Oasis singer Noel Gallagher; Hollywood’s finest Ralph Brown and Comedy favorites such as Steve Coogan and Julian Clary, really are to name but a few. Since it is such a popular tourist destination driving is advised against; the main transportation method is your feet, or public transportation which is one of the best leading in the UK.

Since Brighton is a seaside destination, most of what is going on deals with coastal activities. From Brighton Beach to Brighton Pier, to the burned wreckage of the West Pier, or the area known as North Laine, full of hippies and voodoo practitioners, there’s plenty to see and do along the beach. There's also a designated nudist beach for those individuals who enjoy the free-willy approach to beach fun. Brighton also has one of the most vibrant gay and lesbian communities in the UK in the area known as Kemptown, and gives the city some similarities with San Francisco. Then there's the marina, the Fabrica art gallery, the Brighton Museum and Art Gallery, or the Theater Royal, giving art lovers plenty to enjoy while in the city.

Brighton is also known for its variety of festivals throughout the year, although the most well-known of these is probably the Brighton Festival, considered the second largest arts festival in Britain after the Edinburgh festival. There is also the Brighton Festival Fringe, the London to Brighton Bike Ride, Brighton Pride festival, the infamous Paddle Around the Pier and the Brighton and Hove Food Festival. All in all, there is continually something going on in Brighton, making it a place well-worth visiting regardless of what time of year it is.
