      • Baltimore
Baltimore hits a happy medium between the hectic frigidity of the Northeast and the lazy mugginess of the South. It has a homey, blue-collar atmosphere, much like Philadelphia or Boston, that is universally appealing. Known as 'Charm City,' Baltimore is unique and endearing in many ways.

It can even claim to be home to the Star Spangled Banner. Literally: this is the city where Francis Scott Key first wrote the song that’s droned through before every major sporting event. The city has a long and impressive history, having once fought the first of the British invaders as the location of the opening shots of the American Civil War, as well as being at the very core of the American Civil Rights movement.

These days the history still shines through a pleasant modern façade, especially at spots like Fort McHenry, a key defensive location against a British naval attack in 1812. The cannons still line the harbor wall, while the surrounding area still consists of many of the cobbled, thin and winding streets that were found here a century ago. Stopping for a local beer or two in the old-world pubs around the waterfront makes for an unusual and impressive Baltimore experience.

Foodies will quickly fall in love with Lexington Market, a spot where the cuisine is pointedly off the wall, and includes a ‘pit beef sandwich’ (pit beef is cooked for 24 hours in a hole in the ground) served with horse radish, local seafood including crab and eels, and lake trout, which is neither a trout nor from the lake, but does taste good. You could quickly fall in love with local Baltimore cuisine: this is a real weight gain holiday. You can wash all the impressive foodstuffs down with an array of local craft beer, too.

The trendy neighborhood of Fell's Point has long been a hot spot for restaurants, nightclubs and art galleries; more recently, Federal Hill and Canton have joined it in attracting a diverse crowd of locals.

Throw in an impressive zoo, a vast selection of museums (including the intensely eccentric American Visionary Arts Museum) and one of the most progressive outlooks on life of any American city and plenty see Baltimore as an essential part of any American travel experience.

Hop on the water taxi through the bay, make the most of an unusually well maintained and old-world selection of history and revel in the independence of a city that’s culturally refined and interesting around almost every corner.

      • Annapolis
Annapolis, Maryland USA is located on the west side of the Chesapeake Bay between the Severn River and the South River, almost center of the state, if the state was a square, which it is definitely not. Annapolis is a 30 minute drive south of Baltimore and a 45 minute drive east of Washington D.C. Annapolis is also only a 2 to 2-1/2 hour drive from the Atlantic Ocean to the east, or a 2 to 3 hour drive to the Blue Ridge or Appalachian Mountains to the northwest.

Annapolis was our country's capital when the Treaty of Paris, ending the Revolutionary War, was signed here. All four Maryland signers of the Declaration of Independence had impressive homes in Annapolis, which still stand today. Today, Annapolis has more of these original 18th Century structures still standing than any other city in the United States. Many are open to the public, where their beauty and architectural style is a major attraction.

Annapolis is also famous for being the home to the United States Naval Academy. The U.S. Naval Academy is open to visitors most days, but because this is a military base, you cannot drive into the academy. You can, however, park in the many parking garages downtown and take a short walk to the academy. All you need is a photo ID, such as a driver’s license or a passport, to enter the academy grounds to visit the many historical buildings and museums there.

        • Dr. Berli is a great surgeon. I'm a month or so post op and couldn't be happier with the results! My surgical team was awesome as well. They have all been so helpful and so awesome with making the process smooth and easy. Thank you all! Just so you know, you all saved my life!
        • I might be being hard on Dr. Berli, but his potential demands it. I will update this review when there is new information to update the files and make changes as needed. Even if I have to apologize at some point, or God forbid, admit I might have been wrong. I believe in owning everything I do and say. It's not always easy, but if I blamed others all the time, I wouldn't be able to stand myself. My life is in your hands right now Dr. Berli. Please respect that. I wish to work with you, but as you requested a team effort in my case, you haven't made use of the resources that have been so generously provided for you - even out of context of the actual required referrals which should have been enough to schedule surgery. Instead, you continue to use inflammatory language and instigate anger and arguing. The art of listening is something different than hearing. When you listen, you will use your heart and mind when contemplating and making decisions. I've worked so hard at your required 6 months of therapy, I'm easier to get along with, but you are still ignorant when it comes to dealing with acute PTSD. I invite you to ask and learn all you want from me - or learn it somehow on your own (even though my case is highly atypical). Bottom line, please don't blame me and don't make me pay with chunks of my time/soul continuum. After our first meeting you were gung-ho to do the surgery, then all the sudden after consulting with other OHSU providers (not me), you cancelled my surgery and made extra requirements. It's not always my fault. Yeah, I have PTSD and don't always react perfectly, but that does not absolve the behaviors that initiate my anger and rage in the first place. I can be the absolute most pleasant and kindest person you've ever met - as long as you don't make me defend my boundaries or my manhood and perceived stature among men. Period. My fault is that I am blatantly honest and I have no filter. The electroshock therapy administered at age 5 (experimental 1970's conversion therapy that included sex abuse and sadistically strong electrical pulses with no regulated voltage requirements (then or now). They could just turn up the voltage as high as they wanted to). That conversion therapy caused a lot of emotional and I believe, physical damage to my brain. Give me a break bro. I'm not perfect, but I'm also not stupid - FAR from it. I hope you've figured that out by now. Making me angry and then calling me out for it is a sadistic form of abuse you may not be aware of. Please educate yourself about the horrors of child abuse. Watch Mommy Dearest - or other horror movies featuring terrible child abuse. Those things happened to me. They happen to a lot of people. In order to become a great doctor, you will need to learn about perspectives you currently don't understand. Watch the horror and feel the pain that so many infants, babies, toddlers, pre-teens and teens go through - especially transgender children. There's plenty of information. You just have to set aside a little extra (billable) time for me because my case is more complicated. Don't complain, collect your paycheck. I always love to meet people to get the opportunity to learn interesting and crazy things. I am sorry the last review was so harsh. But, you ignored me. I hate when people basically stop talking to me in an important conversation. It's bizarre, frustrating and causes self-directed-rage for a person with my issues. Have a heart dude. I know you are a good person, but you have no respect for me, my experience or my need for help as soon as possible. You have no respect for the fact that, because of child abuse, I have emotional problems that you can't make go away with a wave of your hand. When there will be bad or frustrating news, please consult with me to help soften the blow, you know, think about the consequences of your actions. They have huge, devastating effects to the live's of the people you treat. I hate my anger, so please help me stay positive. Adam
