  • Overview You can't Edit

    Users Assigned: Kazmi
One of the most important countries in terms of location as a bridge between Europe and Asia, and one of the most culturally significant countries with a history dating back to prehistoric times, Turkey straddles the gap between Asia and Europe along the Black Sea, the Mediterranean Sea, and the Aegean Sea, while at the same time sharing borders with Bulgaria, Greece, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Syria, Iraq, and Iran. The country as it exists today was first formed in 1923. It is a vast array of diverse topography, and the climate ranges from typical coastal areas along the coastlines of the Mediterranean, Aegean, and the Black Seas, while the border along the south near Syria is desert, and parts of the interior are forested and mountainous.

Turkey is fairly accessible to all levels of visitors, although certain precautions should be taken in the hot zones along borders with Iran, Iraq, or Syria. The country has been a headquarters for great empires over the years from the Roman Empire, to the epic tales of ancient heroes such as Achilles, to the Ottoman Empire. As a result, the architecture of Turkey is jaw-dropping to say the least. There are ruined castles and palaces scattered across the country, but there are also plenty of mosques as well, a testament to the country’s Islamic roots.

From Istanbul to the various resorts dotting the coastlines, Turkey is an experience of a lifetime. The cuisine is rated as some of the best in the world, and so is Turkish coffee. Tea is a popular drink among the Turkish people, but be prepared: the strength will be many times what most Westerners are used to. Turkish delight and baklava are probably the two most popular sweets known in the world, and both originate in Turkey. When you come, prepare your mouth for an explosion of fantasy, and get ready for an adventure you won't soon forget.
