    • Seattle
Arty, alternative Seattle might rain like India during monsoon season at times, but there’s little else depressing about it. From the iconic Space Needle (only worth ascending should the weather be dramatically better than average, unless you want to be staring at the insight of a cloud or watching raindrops drip off the window) to a lively outdoor culture and fashionable coffee & nightlife scene, anyone who likes things up to the minute and different is going to love this city.

Seattle’s a very green city – it should be, considering the water that falls on it – and when you do get a sunny day, walking the city centre and exploring the numerous public gardens with a warm, well-made coffee in hand is the perfect way to use it. There’s a wetland zoo and a waterfall garden, an aquarium and an impressive monorail to cruise round it all on. When you’re done with the inner city natural sites, climb into a kayak and explore the harbor, take a ferry to beautiful Bainridge Island, or hop on a mountain bike and head out into the wild.

Pike Place Market is a wonderful taste of the Seattle of old, hosting farm products and seafood that you can have cooked up in a nearby restaurant. The harbor walk is another must see, with plenty of excursions around the bay on offer, as well as that aquarium, where you’ll find a mammoth octopus and even a coastal tide pool. Head for Pioneer Square for another historic take on Seattle, filled with art galleries and high-class boutique shopping amongst the traditional buildings.

The ‘fish ladders’, which allow salmon to swim up the Ballard Locks into the freshwater above Puget Sound, are another unique Seattle attraction carefully laid open to the visitor, but it’s the lively, playful, art-focused attitude that has most visitors loving this city.

There's no reason for a visitor to limit his/her scope to the downtown area. There are plenty of noteworthy sites and activities in Seattle's quirky neighborhoods. From street art and Theo chocolates in Fremont to art museums and kayaking in the University District. Ballard, Capitol Hill, and the Central District are each worth their own visits as well.

Whether you want to pretend to be Frasier and peruse the light opera scene and high-end coffee shops, or just enjoy a modern, nature-tinged city at its best, there’s plenty here to keep you going, and plenty in the way of motivational caffeine stops, too.

      • This is a class act with a beautiful bar and wonderful food. Service was good. The steaks were phenomenal. The Spanish coffee was not so good but the rest of the meal was very tasty. It was a good time by all
      • My wife and I stayed here for a week on our anniversary trip. The staff was incredibly nice to us and went to great lengths to make our stay more comfortable. The location is great as well and is within walking distance of many of the attractions in Seattle, which you'll need because of all the great food around the area. When we left, I forgot something at the hotel and they had I shipped to us. I would stay there over nearly every other hotel I've stayed at. The room we stayed in was a nice room as well, the noise wasn't as bad as some folks complained about I'm other reviews. Very clean and not cheap looking like some hotels.
      • I was very impressed by this small boutique hotel. The staff was amazingly accommodating. It feels as if all of the staff thinks of you as family. Definitely my go to place next time in Seattle!
      • Besides the initial long stairs to get up, the place is really pleasing to be at. The ambiance is very cozy and chic. It's like a blast to the past. Guest service seems happy and are willing to make the stay memorable. Very accommodating. The room itself was roomy and comfortable. Has all the essentials. The bed floor frame area is in need of a proper vacuum just to make a mention. Bed was plush and warm. Would stay here again next time if I'm Seattle again.
      • If you're looking for a place with some character, look no further. But what really makes this place special is the service, which in my books, is what makes a place worth coming back to. This will always be our number one choice when visiting Seattle. My husband and I arrived just after their complimentary wine in the lobby had ended but David decided to leave everything out for us a bit longer so we could unwind from a long day of traveling. He was the first person we met in a group of people who truly care about making you feel welcome. Everyone was SO friendly. And be sure to keep your schedule open for dinner in the restaurant downstairs. From the outside it looks like nothing at all, but when you walk in, you feel as though you've been invited into a secret space that only a select number of people know about. Just like the staff at the Inn, the bartender was extremely friendly and full of wonderful recommendations. The location is great and the rooms much larger than we expected.
