Newark is the largest city in New Jersey and the first one encountered by anyone flying into the Garden State. Newark is home to the Newark Liberty International Airport, several college campuses, and the New Jersey Devils.

One of the nation's major air, shipping, and rail hubs, the city had a population of 277,140 in 2010, making it the nation's 67th most-populous municipality.

The city is split up into many different neighborhoods and areas. The Ironbound is largely Portuguese and features many wonderful restaurants and bars.

Crime has dropped severely since being labeled as "The Most Dangerous City in America" in 1996, although 5 of the last 7 mayors have been indicted on criminal charges.
