    • Berlin

Berlin, the capital city of Germany as well as one of its 16 states, is the biggest city in Germany with a population of about 4.5 million. Hence, it is the most populous city in the European Union. Berlin is notorious for tolerance, internationalism, bustling nightlife, street art, abundant bars, clubs as well as cafés, diverse royal residences, museums and more locations of historical importance.

The architecture of Berlin is absolutely diverse after its reconstruction when the World War II and cold war ended after the Berlin wall fell in 1989. You can see the symbols of various historic eras within a short period of time in the city centre, from scanty remaining antique buildings near Alexanderplatz, to the cutting-edge glass and steel edifices at Potsdamer Platz.

Due to its boisterous history, Berlin is a city with numerous, unique communities. Brandenburger Tor or Brandenburger Gate is a mark of separation at the time of the world war, but it is now a sign of German reconciliation. It was constructed after the Acropolis in Athens and was brought to fruition in 1799 as the imperial city-gate.

Germans speak English but they will like you to speak a little bit of German. You can learn some phrases that are ideal for a traveler and you will definitely make a good impression of yourself.

Either good or bad, the stories are worth sharing or you will enjoy taking photographs with these lovely people. No matter the diversity - young, old, black, white, tall, small, gay, straight, believer, atheist - it is very certain that they are the best people to be with.

      • Excellent value for money, free breakfast was a great bonus. Was never loud during our stay at night and having an en suite was a lovely addition.
      • It's a beautiful place, very clean and organised in a good way, the open Buffet breakfast was really good, the position of the hostel it's also really good the you can reach the subway in 5 minutes or less. And the people who they are working there are so nice and so helpful.
      • Very nice hostel. Breakfast on the top floor is unique, but allows for a morning with a side of a beautiful view of the city. The rooms are just cozy enough and never feel crowded. Overall, great place for the low price.
      • They have a free breakfast for the people under 27 👌🏻 and family rooms,1 U station from checkpoint charlie😍, cheap price👍🏻,friendly service
      • I was there with my class and... ... The shower looks like it hasn't been cleaned in years (black mold and calcium deposits everywhere) You also dont enjoy showering because it's a very tiny space and the shower head is very loose (i turned up the pressure once in the shower because the shower head kept going down so after i turned it up the shower head shot staight towards the ceiling and water went all over the bathroom walls, I ended up laughing 10 straight minutes because of how stupid that was) ... There are wierd key cards instead of keys that DON'T allow you to put them next or near to your phone and when you do they dont work so you might have to walk down 6 flights of stairs like i did (there is an elevator but it's always being used because there are so many different school classes staying at the hotel) ... And lastly the building is right next to the very loud subway and the cheap windows don't help at all (unless your room is on the other side of the building) To sum things up it did its job as a hostel meaning i slept OK and that im still alive after all of that mold in the bathroom (tip for the shower: take some kind of flip flops so your feet stay safe of bacteria because it looks like they never have cleaned the shower) This was my experience at the happy bed hostel in Berlin and it would NOT have been my first pick but i didnt have a choice since my whole class went and the teachers planned out our stay This means your experience will most likely be different than mine (could be better or worse for you) and that i was only in that one room with 5 other classmates meaning that other rooms might be better than mine... or worse Hope this review somewhat helps 😀
