• West Hollywood

  Known as the gay capital of Los Angeles, West Hollywood contains the most famous area of Southern California nightlife, the Sunset Strip, as well as parts of Santa Monica and Melrose Blvds. Famous stops along the strip include the Chateau Marmont, House Of Blues, Viper Room, owned by Johnny Depp, Whiskey A Go-Go, the Roxy, and other music and comedy venues.
  
  The West Hollywood’ north side is surrounded by the Hills of Hollywood area of the state Los Angeles, and the east side is surrounded by the region of Hollywood Los Angeles, on the west by the city of Beverly Hills, and on the south by the Fairfax District of Los Angeles. As of the 2007 census, the city had a total population of 34,675. West Hollywood is also known for its expensive housing.
  
  On the eastern end of the strip you will also find many (expensive) restaurants and (even more expensive) shops/boutiques.

• Beverly Hills

  Beverly Hills is one of the most well known cities in Los Angeles, California. Home to many celebrities and affluent California residents, it has become the representation of sophistication and luxury many try to emulate.
  
  A visit to Beverly Hills can include high retail shopping on the famed Rodeo Drive, diverse sightseeing tours by trolley, bike, segway and everything in between, or simply a nice walk around the 14-block Beverly Gardens Park on Santa Monica Blvd which displays many public art sculptures. It contiunes to serve as a background to many movies and television shows.
  
  There is an array of cultural restaurants and special events ranging from casual to glamorous and as entertaining as it is diverse.

  Check out the infamous 40ft sign propped up above it all. Check out the local burger bar and hang out with all the waiters – sorry, actors – at a pool party, talking celebrities between each sip and trying to weasel your way into a blockbuster. Go home no more famous than when you arrived, but somehow still feeling like a superstar.
  
  True, Hollywood is arguably the most shallow and celebrity focused stretch of land in the entire world (though certain corners of Mumbai might beg to differ), but it’s also one of the most inspiring corners of the states, with a night out on Sunset Boulevard or star spotting down Hollywood Boulevard in the blazing sunlight feeling somehow more special than a night out anywhere else. There’s a palpable sense of excitement about the place, with everything from legends like the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and The Motley Crue to drag acts and celebrity focused drug dealers focusing their life around Hollywood’s three main thoroughfares.
  
  Aside from watching the filming of occasional TV shows, there’s plenty else to do in the Hollywood area: drift down the Walk of Fame, drop in on the wax museum or catch a future star at the infamous Grauman’s Chinese Theatre. Step away from celebrity and indulge in a bit of science, with the Griffith Park Observatory, or go star spotting amongst the mansions of Mulholland Drive.
  
  Of course, downtown LA, the beaches and Universal City are all a mere stones throw away from central Hollywood, and you’d be mad not to incorporate the super city into any trip, too. Bikini clad beaches, manic parties, rock and roll and money, money, money are all just part of the experience.
  
  Many come here with nothing in mind but fame, while others come just to get their own taste of how the other side lives. Whatever your reasons, you’re sure to enjoy your moment somewhere near the spotlight, and come away dreaming of a Hollywood life.

  The Elan is located in a beautiful neighborhood with plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance. Breakfast was delightful with fresh fruit, ham and cheese, croissants, cottage cheese and Greek yogurt offered along with all the usual fare. We were on the first floor where foot traffic in the hallway seemed to be a bit heavy. If you stay, and you should, be sure to request a quiet room of you're a light sleeper. The staff is very helpful and accommodating. Rooms are clean and cozy. We'll definitely return to Elan Hotel.

  I am from Georgia. Selected this hotel because of the reviews and it's close to where I needed to be. We were in LA to attend a funeral. We left the room and was away for hours. Returned to the room and the first thing i saw was a card. Opened it and it was a sympathy card from the staff. That meant so much to us. The entire staff gave excellent service. Room was clean, delicious chocolate on the night stand and the bed. Great breakfast and evening reception Train wasn't leaving until 10:00 p.m. I informed the staff and they offered me a 2:00 late check out. Later informed them because I was traveling with a 96 year old person I would like to see about staying until around 7:00. They offered me a partial day rate. They do what is necessary to assist their customers. Definitely would stay here again and recommend to anyone who is looking for a great hotel. Excellent staff.

  Boutique type of hotel. They are in a great area for shopping for sure. The prices aren't that bad either. Light breakfast and nice rooms. You wont be disappointed for a mid-range to boutique hotel

  We spent one night at the Elan, and our visit was wonderful from start to finish. The front desk staff were very welcoming, and they honored my request for a quiet room away from the elevator. The room (I think it was 217) was at the back of the hotel, so far from the road noise.

  “Very nice boutique hotel” This is my go to hotel whenever I am in LA. The location is perfect; its near the Grove, premiere shopping and LA hotspots. Very nice continental breakfast. The wine reception is a special touch. The rooms are clean and staff is pleasant.
