    • New Orleans

Fighting off the demons of recent times with a combination of indomitable community spirit and a shared love of local superstar Lil Wayne, New Orleans is fast overcoming the dark days of hurricane Katrina, and returning to the happy times and staunch, fun loving outlook of a city living by the motto "Let the good times roll."

Seen by many as almost as Caribbean as it is American, New Orleans is boisterous and colorful, full of a vivacious energy that seems to soak into the skin from the moment you arrive amongst the funky sounds of the city streets and the succulent tastes of foods fused through the city’s multifaceted cultural influences. It could turn out to be a city of offense or crime easily, dynamic and moderate with abundance in the way of bizarre, rough parties and garish, cocktail-infused, fast ways of life.

And why not? After all, few cities revel in the good times quite as much as New Orleans. New Orleans is one of the few locations in which you can visit for a day or two and make memories that will last forever.

There’s plenty to discover aside from a good-time vibe, too, like the delicate pastel buildings of the French Quarter, with its trams, fusions architecture and shambolic yet seductive old stores and churches. Hop on and off the trams to grab crepes, dine in opulent restaurants like the Carousel Bar, or take a horse and carriage ride through Jackson Square, soaking up the quiet ambience of the manicured gardens and eying the church spires piercing the skyline.

Woldenberg Park at sunset is another alluring and romantic corner of New Orleans, while the City Park Sculpture Garden or a relaxing ride on the top deck of the Steamboat Natchez are not to be sniffed at, either. You’ll find the traces of liberal-era hippiedom in amongst the open space of the city, with the modern art LOVE sign still occupying a small park corner, and sexual direction of absolutely no consequence to liberal locals.

New Orleans is a city unlike any other, steeped in history and passion, and, for all its recent tragedy, still falling happily into the liberal comedy end of the city-destination spectrum. All in all, its freethinking, lively, and more fun that than even the enlightened might expect.

    • Madisonville

As a result of a wealth of shellfish Madisonville was supposed to be the site of the Native American town of Chiconcte. In 1810 for the appreciation of President of the United States James Madison, it was renamed.

Its an essential port giving various products like bricks and different things of the towns along the Tchefuncte to New Orleans in the decades prior to the American Civil War.

In the late twentieth century, the beginning of the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway and related roads consistently conveyed Madisonville into the hover of Greater New Orleans.

In 2005, a great part of the town overwhelmed with the Lake Pontchartrain storm flood of Hurricane Katrina. Alongside the lower levels of the fire station, the police headquarters were also demolished by the floodwaters.

Closely where the stream enters Lake Pontchartrain, there is a lighthouse toward the finish of the Tchefuncte River, which was constructed in 1838 and is on the United States National Register of Historic Places. In 1965, the land course to the beacon was annihilated by Hurricane Betsy and since then one can only reach it via boat.

      • I came to assist a client. I didn't feel safe.
      • If you need a good deal on a weekly this might be the place for you. The employees are very nice. The only improvements I would have liked to see are for people who might want to use a laptop in the room. The room I had was not very well lit. Also wi fi in parts of the motel is very lacking. I was lucky to get two bars at most, most days. Seems like an easy fix, they might want to add a router to the remote parts of the property. Other then that no real complaints
      • I had to stay here during some major renovations at my apartment. You got to admit that this place has an old and not very positive reputation. As a taxi driver, I've met many regulars here and they seem satisfied. (That's why I chose to stay here.) I must admit--really impressed with what new management has accomplished in the last year. They are very adamant about the upkeep and cleanliness. I was treated very well. As far as it's reputation; if you intend to engage in illicit or illegal activity--YOU WILL BE DIRECTED SOMEPLACE ELSE! I witnessed several room turndowns and I can especially appreciate that! Nobody wants drama! The London Lodge has apparently done well to distance itself from the questionable Tulane motels. Great job and I WOULD recommend this place to others!
      • I wish there was a zero star rating. I actually worked as a contractor for a hotel bathtub refinisher and have stayed at some shady hotels throughout Memphis, Durham, Miami etc and this is the worst. There hasn't been a good review on this place at all so I can only blame myself for coming here, but after a long drive I wanted to get my fiance and I into bed. There isn't any ice and if asked for some you would get looked at like a crazy person. Speaking of crazy, there is a female stating she works here below us. If ANY sounds are made intentionally or not, we get a nice welcoming BANGING with a broom on her ceiling and that's only a warning we were told. Even when we haven't made a sound we still get the loud bangs all through the night. Another employee who we spoke to about the situation only gave us the cold shoulder and told us that her manger would be back in the morning to fix our bathtub that has been clogged with Lord knows what, for going on two days now. While we are explaining all this another employee walks up and get in between us, right in front of us complaining about HER bathtub, totally interrupting us, that's when my fiance had had enough and walked off pretty pissed. So not only this place being a total hole in the wall and is nasty nasty nasty, the employees are rude, disrespectful, hateful, and just plain mean and nasty. I would give this puddle of pee a 0 and spit on it.
      • Doesn't feel or look the safest.
