Users Assigned: KazmiFreiburg is a city in Baden-Württemberg, Germany situated on the western edge of the southern Black Forest. Freiburg im Breisgau is situated in the immediate vincinity of France (3 km distance) and Switzerland (42 km). Popular opinion says that Freiburg is the warmest city in Germany. In fact, it is one of the sunniest cities in Germany.
Freiburg has a relaxed atmosphere, which is do largely in part to the university community in the area. Freiburg has tons of cafes, restaurants, bars, clubs, pubs, ice cream shops, parks, and hiking opportunities. The old town is virtually vehicle-free, making it ideal for shopping, strolling, and exploring. Freiburg is associated with its traditional cherry-and-chocolate gateau and of course, cuckoo clocks. But take care not to step into the "Bächle", the little streams that are running through most streets of the old town.
The town has many other things to offer: architectural highlights mirroring the city's changing fates, excellent wine, numerous cultural events and showcasing the region's natural beauty.
The central market is called the Münsterplatz and the Münster cathedral looms over it. The Münster cathedral is a fine example of both high and late Gothic architecture. It boasts stone and wood carvings, stained glass windows and a spire that you can ascend.
