    • Birmingham
One of the most progressive cities in England, and considered to be the second largest in terms of population, Birmingham is a massive metropolitan area in the West Midlands region of the country. During the Industrial Revolution times it was known as the “workshop of the world”, as well as the “city of a thousand trades” due to the massive number of workers and trades which catapulted the city into the forefront of the Industrial Revolution, but its industrial importance faded over the years until the city became just another dot on the map. Until, that is, the late 20th century, when Birmingham underwent a massive facelift, renovating many of the old sections of the city and transforming into a modern hub of commerce that now has the city as one of the top five most popular destinations for foreigners coming into England. And while the city itself might not boast the “medieval” charm of places like nearby Shropshire or Warwick, the modernity of Birmingham has given rise to a new breed of adventurer: the modern traveler.

Birmingham is the UK's second largest city. It is a thriving city, perfect for a shopping spree with The Bullring and The Mailbox, just outside the center. The city caters for most tastes with many hidden, unique shops, as well as the high street stores and fantastic places to eat; prices to suit any pocket.

The nightlife is varied, you may just want to spend your evening in a bar or pub, or sample some of the city's clubs. Broad Street is perfect for a bit of a pub crawl, or even try the Harborne Run! If you'd prefer something more relaxed why not book yourself a nice comfy leather sofa in The Electrica cinema, and have a bottle of wine brought to you whilst you watch anything from foreign cinema, old favorites or even some of the new releases in the comfortable surroundings of this 1920s cinema.

If you enjoy theater and the arts, then the Birmingham Rep - with its main auditorium and studio theater - offers a wide range of performances to suit every taste, including children's shows and ground breaking new writing. The Alexandra and The Old Rep are 2 more theaters that can be found near the city center. Birmingham Hippodrome is the home of the Birmingham Royal Ballet, and hosts many musicals and other dance performances throughout the year, alongside "straight" plays and celebrity shows.

An important tourist attraction is the Canal, where the visitors can find a cozy environment for dining.
