      • Denver
Cleverly nicknamed as ‘Mile High City’ (Denver does in fact sit exactly one mile above sea level), and backed by the kind of mountain range that instantly justifies the arty name, Denver arguably has one main draw: clear air, and the chance to sneak off into the Colorado Rockys for a quick bit of hill walking, skiing or rock climbing at next to no notice.

The overbearing draw of the mountains, though unmissable, should not be allowed to totally overshadow the city itself, though. Denver is heavy on the cultural side of things, with museums and galleries galore to explore downtown, including gems like an exploration of the city’s gold rush era at the Molly Brown House and Museum, or an abundance of public art tucked away in locations like the Civic Centre Park.

LoDo – also the district that’s home to Denver’s passion-inducing baseball team – is perhaps the must-see district, hiding draws like block upon block of beautifully renovated Victorian architecture, as well as a sport themed bar scene and the heart of Denver’s array of restaurants (if you have the chance, order a Rocky Mountain Oyster, though not without looking up what that means, first!). If you’re the fashionable type, nearby Larimer Square will draw you in, too, with endless branded boutiques, as well as a beautiful winter vibe accentuated by the gentle lighting. Fashionable, but inevitable pricey with it.

It wouldn’t be right to visit Denver without at least dabbling in the old Cowboy era relics, such as Buffalo Bill’s grave at the top of Lookout Mountain, from where you can see plenty of his old frontiers before heading to the Bill themed museum, too. In it you’ll find bows and arrows, early shooters and an insightful glance into the heart of Buffalo Bills bizarre and celebrated life.

Even if you’re here for the mountains, then, there’s plenty to justify a day or two hanging out in Mile High City and taking in the sense of enduring history that seems to come with a place with a truly special backdrop.

It is a steep and winding road with bicyclists touring it at all hours of the day. There is a well maintained picnic area, a first class restaurant, great hiking trails and impressive views of the city and surrounding area. You can even see Denver from there.

        • I am very unhappy with the inpatient process. I pay a good amount for my insurance each month, and the service I receive is sub par. I have been with this hospital for over 10 years and the changes for inpatient services are just not what they use to be. You have to pay a co-pay just for doctors to take one look at you and refer you somewhere else. They don't touch you, don't order any tests. You could save my money and give me a referral questionnaire, refer me through email, or on the phone. Once you are referred to a specialist it can take MONTHS before you are able to get in for a consultation, let alone any treatment or additional tests which take more time. Having a job and trying to take time off for all of these little visits is a nightmare, and if you have anything aggressive or life threatening , good luck trying not to die in the time that you are waiting to see a specialist. The patient care standard here is very low, especially for customers who pay insurance specifically for this hospital. I use to refer people to this hospital for their services, now I tell them to go with other options. There needs to be a board or someone on this issue quickly because it is a huge liability. If paying patients are waiting more than a month for care that is a problem. This should be a simple standard of care, and customer service .
        • If you have serious medical issues, this is the hospital you want to go to. They are a teaching hospital and their interns/fellows learn from tenured doctors. The collaboration between doctors is excellent and they help each other come up with the best possible solution for your situation. I am included in the conversation as a caregiver and not talked down to... I like that because those of us who are with someone terminally or chronically ill know what's going on, on a day-to-day basis and our opinion/input matters.
        • Wonderful! We ended up here in an emergency. The nursing staff was super friendly and professional. We had a complex test that needed to be performed, and we were scheduled quickly and we got fast results. They really helped us get our issue resolved and they even expedited our discharge so we could catch a flight home.
        • Did illegal things to me and experimented on me without my consent! When I threatened to contact the media about the illegal things taking place on myself and other patients I know of, they ushered me out of the emergency area with several armed guards and made threats to me and tried to take my phone because they thought I recorded everything they were doing and they didn't want me having proof of course! Well I have proof! IT'S PLANTED WITH IMPORTANT PEOPLE TOO! And they are in alot of trouble! They look at you as a $$DOLLAR SIGN$$ not as a person in need of medical attention! Go ANYWHERE BUT HERE! NOT SAFE! Government Street thugs that literally, "GET AWAY WITH MURDER!!!!!
        • The over all hospital is a great hospital. The nurses are usually very nice and helpful. But the doctors dont care about the support team for the client. The doctors are rude and seem to rather be teachers then actual doctor's, they love to point out how they are right and what everyone else says is wrong. Even if it is what another doctor says.
        • I took a family member there for a routine procedure, and it was like a maze and people were walking around everywhere.? It was Total Caos.! There were so many people they were tripling up the VIP Parking in the middle of the road because there was no room? If you don't like walking or can't walk well this place is not for you!! This place is a money making machine it is always busy and takes all people? The Doctor's Seem pretty competent? And the staff is pretty nice ! The place is well noticeable and easy to get to and very very big! I would suggest making your appointment months in advance..!
        • I honestly wish I could give them zero stars. I had my daughter here 5 years ago and they have completely changed. They are nothing like they were now they just SUCK. They are full with incompetent people and schedule you appointments that are always 30 minutes behind schedule. Not only do you check in on time but even after the 30 minutes of them being behind your appointment still isn't seen until 40-50 minutes later. For someone that has to work and rescheduled there appointment they should let you know when you check in, instead they look at you check you in and wait for you to come up and complain. After I asked if they were behind the nurses and front desk staff rolled there eyes at me and didn't acknowledge me anymore. This place is a joke and they have no customer service what so ever. If I could switch hospitals I would but I'm due right around the corner.
        • Excellent care, excellent treatment! Everyone acted with true professionalism. I received state of the art care for a rare medical problem that required special treatments. I couldn't have asked for any better care.
        • My wife went through her kidney transplant at CU health. Would not recommend any other hospital. Exemplary Doctors, nurses and support sataff. Thank you CU Health.
        • I would recommend not going to any UCHealth facility for your care. First, my bills were sent back as undeliverable for some reason and my account was immediately sent to collections. I was never contacted to figure out what was wrong with my address. When I called UCHealth to try and get it worked out, they said there was nothing they could do. So now I am dealing with a crappy collections agency. Further, for a doctor's visit, he threw pills at me and when it only made matters worse, he told me to let him know if there was anything else I would like to do. I didn't even know what my options were and he just brushed off my symptoms. I only go to doctors as a last resort so it was especially discouraging to be brushed of like that. I have filed a complaint with the BBB and I suggest you do, too, otherwise the repeated issues I see in the complaints here will keep occurring.
        • The nurses were great...But I went in the ER at 3 am due to bad stomach pain with nausea on my left side. They took blood test. I sat in there until almost 8am just be told they didn't know what was causing my pain. Kinda made me feel like I was lying. They prescribed me Pepcid which has made me feel worse. Day 2 after leaving and my stomach is feeling worse. I wouldn't say they were incompetent but maybe just didn't do or want to do everything they can to help figure out what was wrong with me. However my nurse was extremely helpful and concerned.
        • Outstanding people working here. My only issue is the parking. I had to park in a different parking lot 4 blocks away. Not a big deal though. I understand. Its a busy Hospital.
        • This is the saddest review I have ever had to write. I was diagnosed with cancer last year and this was my second opinion location. I love my oncologist here. She is truly amazing. But it all stops there. UCHealth is too big and they will not give any billing information up front that is accurate. With my very decent health insurance I did 12 radiation treatments and I was billed a facility charge of $100 for each one in addition to the radiation costs. Even my insurance company told me they thought that was terrible but they could not do anything about it. UCHealth had told me I would owe nothing, that my insurance would take care of the bill. Instead they refused to discount any of the bill and instead allowed me to make payments. I have been trying to pay as much off as I could and today received another bill for my Petscan from last December. I am supposed to be responsible for $150 of that and they billed me over $509 for this. Also I have not received a bill for March for my Cat Scan so I can't imagine that bill. Sadly today I cancelled my doctors appointment for next month as I cannot afford treatment. The stress from these bills is really taking a toll on my health and they get to charge any amount and you have no idea how much. I was a patient at another cancer treatment center prior to this treatment and they billed me what my insurance told me the costs would be. I am very upset to give up a doctor I love and trust because of their greedy billing. Interesting they told me I needed to see a counselor and I tried to connect with him many times and he never returned my calls. I was worried what that charge would be but even my mental health issues got lost in a system that is way too big. I notice UCHealth will sometimes respond to reviews on here, but strangely not when it concerns billing. Cancer is only for the wealthy at UCHeath. UPDATE: Here is the stock reply I received from UCHealth after I contacted them as they asked me to: Good morning Amy, Thank you for taking the time to provide additional feedback regarding your review. I will pass this along to our patient experience team to help improve and clarify billing related issues. We pride ourselves in maintaining the highest quality standards as well as billing transparency for all patients. I’m sorry this has been an upsetting situation and we take your feedback and will work towards improving. Thank you. Sincerely, Sarah B.
        • UCHealth is a disaster. Although quick to prescribe, and not always necessary, their pain management is a disaster. Bureaucracy is the name of the story - it is truly a taste of socialized medicine. In addition, their billing and account management is the most inefficient thing I have encountered. Be warned, each time you go to a doctor an account number is generated. And, if you go to a doctor that is part of the UC Health system, despite the fact that you are seeing them at a strip center clinic, you will be charged a fee as though you have gone to the hospital. It is the most opaque and costly experience I have had. To have my first ever wart removed? Almost $500 and it's still there. Avoid.
        • I went into the burnt center and I'm fascinated with all the kind nurses and doctors, great service so patient and knowledgeable. The hospital is very clean and great atmosphere, Well worth the bill, I would recommend it any time. Thank you so much for everything UCHEALTH!
