  The lone 30-story skyscraper may look a bit out of place, jutting out from hundreds of miles of surrounding farmland. But that's because this is a city that doesn't try to be pretentious. This is simply and truly the "heartland" of America.
  
  Pop history fans will revel as they take in such icons as Route 66, the original "Cozy Dog" (corn dog) restaurant, world famous chili (spelled "chilli" around here), horseshoe sandwiches, and the "Maid-Rite" - which may very well be the country's first drive-thru restaurant.
  
  Of course this is the "Land of Lincoln" and here you can literally trace the life of this famous man from youth to death. Just outside the city is New Salem State Park, which recreates the entire log cabin community where Lincoln lived as a young man. The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum is as entertaining as some theme parks!
  
  Additionally, you can tour one of the best-preserved homes by legendary designer/architect Frank Lloyd Wright, and get a glimpse inside the home of poet Vachel Lindsay, as well. Lesser-known history facts include that Springfield was the starting point of the ill-fated Donner Party Expedition, and that the city also played a pivotal role in the founding of the NAACP.
  
  Geographic highlights include one of the largest man-made lakes of its time and one of the nation's tallest bell tower carillons. The city is also dotted with numerous parks, hiking and bicycle trails.

  HORRENDOUS: Don't ever go here! EVER! They will charge you even if they can do nothing for you! I've had terrible experience in my many years of dealing with a chronic illness and this takes the cakes as the most unprofessional unethical operation I've every seen.

  They ruined my credit for $13. DO NOT GO HERE. Find any other Doctor, any where.

  Have taken excellent care of us as senior citizens. Our health has improved since being here. Love the kindness most of all!

  Currently work for the State of Illinois and chose Health Alliance as my health insurance provider. Called Springfield Clinic to set up an appointment with a primary care physician. Found out that I was locked out of their system, (in other words banned for life). I have no recollection of handing out my medicine. However I do remember my medicine being stolen which is why I contacted the police. The people that I was pretty sure stole my medicine are the ones that said I was giving away my medicine. The reason I am not sure about anything is because xanax is such a powerful drug. Everytime I would take it I would not remember anything. Now that I am older I actually know what xanax is. Did not realize what they were prescribing me back then. Not sure what the doctor was doing giving a 20 year old xanax. He should have been asking me questions trying to figure out what was causing my anxiety and trying to address the issue. Instead he gives me what I now know is a high dose of anxiety medicine. Due to all of this I am now not able to go to Springfield Clinic. All of the specialists are there. Where else am I supposed to go????? Give me a break.

  My husband went to the prompt care with a sore throat and was charged $285. $155 for the visit, $80 for the quick strep test, and $50 for the throat culture. These are all very overpriced. If you're self-pay, they will reduce your bill by 10% if it's paid in full; that is the only discount available.
