  Edina is a wealthy suburb of Minneapolis. It's a great area to drive around and look at all the fancy homes. It's also a great place to drive around and relax. They have many new shopping areas and entertainment venues around town. Centennial Lakes Park provides some great outdoor fun, without a lot of exertion. They also have a newly revamped Southdale Mall, with some great restaurants and shopping stores.
  
  Edina also has great public facilities including the Aquatic center, the Braemar golf course, for full course golfers...the rest of us can golf in miniature at Centennial Lakes. They also have a beautiful Edinborough park.

  An arty city hemmed in by pretty lakes and home to a vivacious art scene, Minneapolis is all flashy skyscrapers and good time nights out. Unsubtly nicknamed ‘the mini apple’, the heart of the Great Lakes is more comparable to New York than you might think, with a lively, outgoing take on life, all those tower blocks and even the same waterside vibe at lakeside.
  
  As if to flaunt its modernity, Minneapolis has linked most of the city with a series of one-storey-up skyways, connecting the skyscrapers around a length of the city through which you could comfortably run a 10km race. On the ground you’ll find another adventurous take on tourism, with the city offering tours on Segway’s, the up-to-the-minute ‘stand on’ machines that consistently look on the verge of falling over.
  
  The transport’s nearly as interesting as the attractions, and you’ll find yourself rocking up at sites like the new selection of designer buildings and the off-the-wall sculpture park with a smile on your face almost as big as the one the sight of a huge, water-bound apple balanced unconvincingly on an oversized spoon brings.
  
  Minneapolis is proud of its music scene, too, with a buzzing nightlife heavy in both jazz and contemporary rock and pop, as well as plenty of lively clubs. Prince, legendary punks The Replacements and country stars The Jayhawks all got their start in amongst the lakes.
  
  Of course, it wouldn’t be Minneapolis without the lakes, and there are over 900 of them in the immediate vicinity (and in fact more than 10,000 if you’re prepared to look wider afield), each hosting their own unique attraction ranging from full on sailing and windsurfing to a bit of fishing, kayaking and enjoying bird sanctuaries and seductive man-made beaches.
  
  Sitting alongside Vancouver and Boulder as one of those striking North American cities where you can happily blend cutting edge entertainment and a true taste of nature all inside a few hours, Minneapolis can certainly hold its head high.

• Eagan

  Eagan is a fantastic city, deemed 12th best place to live in the US by CNN Money Magazine in 2007. Eagan is a short drive from the twin cities and the Mall of America. It also has a large number of green places with parks and lakes to experience. Eagan also has Lebanon Hills, which yields fantastic bike trails and hiking spots as well. It is also only minutes away from the Minnesota Zoo in Apple Valley. Eagan also has some great shopping along strip malls in various centers of town. It also has a great movie theater and a Water Park (Cascade Bay)in the middle of town.

  We were here for business meeting and had a great time. Rooms were very clean and updated. I always check the covers and sheets for bugs and I did not find not even a trace in my room. They served us breakfast and lunch between our sessions and I have to tell you the food was spectacular. I didn't hear any complaints from the rest of our group either so I am assuming they had as a delightful experience as I did.

  My favorite Minneapolis area hotel. Rooms are super clean and comfortable. Beds are in great condition. Staff is very friendly. The on-site restaurant, Lola's, is not what you'd expect in a hotel. The food and atmosphere is terrific! I spend 180 nights a year in hotels, and this is one of my absolute favorites.

  Do NOT book an event with this hotel. In 10 years of event management this is the FIRST hotel that has charged me for not using their space when canceling weeks ahead of time. This wasn't an instance of no showing, but they claim to be so elite that they barely have any space left during the sales process but yet they need to charge a customer for not using the space when they could easily sell a small room based on their own words. This wasn't a huge ballroom that was booked either. Our company was charged FULL price for a 1000 square foot room that was cancelled weeks in advance. Absolutely HORRIBLE service and we will never do business with them or a Sheraton again.

  In an effort to live a little, I decided to indulge in a mid-day glass of wine with a girlfriend...because working on Mondays is severely overrated. I'd not been into the Sheraton's new restaurant, Lela. The service was great, wine selection elite and a charming ambiance. Granted, it was a bit pricey. At the same time, somewhat expected for a hotel restaurant. I did notice they do special wine pairing dinners which I'll need to come back for. The wine was perfect for the freezing ass cold Minnesota brought early this year.
