• Dixon

  Dixon is a town of about 100 (up 29% since 2000) located along Wyoming Highway 70 in Carbon County in Southern Wyoming near the border with Colorado. Dixon was established in the late 1800s and incorporated in 1887 making it the second oldest town in Carbon County and sixth oldest in the state; but has pretty much always been overshadowed by the surrounding towns of Savery and Baggs. Dixon was named after Bob Dixon one of the first fur trappers in the area along with the much more famous Jim Baker.
  
  Dixon has a nice little historic district with a couple of buildings of historical and/or architectural interest. There in one building in Dixon listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Stockgrowers Bank Building was completed in 1916 and served as a bank until 1923. After that it became a soda fountain, a general store and later the gathering place for the Dixon Veterans of Foreign Wars. In 1975 it became the Dixon City Hall. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
