Users Assigned: KazmiA couple of hour's drive north of Brisbane, Noosa is part of the Sunshine Coast area of Queensland. The region consists of several suburbs, including Noosa Heads, Noosaville, Sunshine Beach, Sunrise Beach and Tewantin.
The major tourist hotspot for those coming to the area is in and around Hastings Street in Noosa Heads. Lined with restaurants and playing host to an annual jazz festival, Hastings Street is also right on the beach. The Noosa National Park is about a five minute walk from there, providing stunning cliff and ocean views along hiking trails, access to more remote beaches, as well as the chance to glimpse a koala if you look hard enough.
Noosa and many of the surrounding regions have been given Aboriginal names or adaptions... Noosa means shadow or shadey place.

MooloolabaA popular coastal city, Mooloolaba is situated about 100km north of Brisbane on Queensland's Sunshine Coast. Peppered with hotels for those seeking the sunny beaches and a laid back coastal atmosphere, Mooloolaba was firmly put on the map following the opening of its UnderWater World Marine Park. The popular attraction sparked the development of tourist infrastructure, including shopping areas and some excellent restaurants. UnderWater World itself has its own high profile, having featured in the Jacky Chan movie Police Story 4: First Strike and the American TV series The Amazing Race.
Mooloolaba, which is an Aboriginal word for black water snake, has a population of around 11,000 people.
If you are a scuba diver make sure you head for the Ex-HMAS Brisbane, which is a fantastic wreck dive just off the coast!
Mooloolaba hosts a number of great annual sporting events including the Mooloolaba Triathon, World Etchell Sailing races, and the Mooloolaba to Gladstone Yacht Race.
