      • Metropolitan City of Milan
Despite running several leagues behind capital Rome in the tourism stakes, visitors quickly discover that Milan has more than enough to offer in its own right. A real fashion capital, you’ll find streets adorned not only with classic architecture, but also with Prada, Armani and Dolce & Gabbana, who – amongst numerous others – have made their home amongst the city’s extremely fashionable Golden Quad.

In fact, fashion, finance (Milan is Italy’s economic centre) and the world-class local football are all but religions here. There’s no better way to spend an evening than watching the flares light up the passionate crowd at the San Siro (home to both AC and Inter Milan, two of the best club soccer teams in Europe); take a chilled out afternoon waiting for the carnage to unfold by heading for the canal-side cafes in Navigli, strolling around with a cone full of the world’s most sumptuous ‘gelato’ (ice cream), or hunting the numerous second hand stores that seduce passing tourists with affordable selections of last years range.

The Teatro Alla Scala is perhaps Milan’s must see tourist site, the symbolic home of an impressive opera scene, while the pointy, gothic splendor of the Duomo Cathedral and its surrounding square captivates, too. Then there’s the heavily fortified walls of the Castello Sforzesco to drift around, or an impressive selection of city centre gardens in which to slurp your take-out espresso. In amongst it all, you can grab a quick viewing of Leonardo Da Vinci’s the last supper, too.

Above all the sites, though, you’ll want to sample Milan’s atmospheric soul. Head along to a lengthy early-evening drinking session and throw back liquor with the locals while snacking on succulent bar snacks, or enjoying the slowed down street scenes of sunny August, when half the shops shut and the other half slow to an intensely casual snails pace.

It’s all fascinatingly different and enticing. Welcome to the most fashionable part of the world’s most fashionable country. Dress up, strut about, and don’t forget to accessorize. You’re going to love it.

        • Modern well kept airport with a lot of shopping. Things worked well for our trip. Helpful staff at Help Desk
        • I love the family line security check in the terminal 2. it also has a lot of option of transportation to the city center. I have to say that the interior and exterior of the airport is very standard even a bit oldies.
        • Plan ahead - chances are you'll need to catch a bus between terminals if you're renting a car or getting on the train. Terminal buses can take about 15 minutes and get very crowded. Some airport cafes inside but recommend you eat before coming to the airport on departure! Not much variety and the staff look irritated that you want to buy their products!
        • Poor organized airport. There are a lot of counters in a Check-in area, but it doesn't mean that all that counters for your flight. And you may stay for half an hour or more in a line, than at a Check-in counter you'll find out that it's wrong counter. Ridiculous!
        • More a complaint about the extremely rude cab driver I got stuck with last night. I was told the ride would be $75 eu from the airport to Rho. That's like a 15 minute drive, barely any traffic. Cabbie yelled at me, insulted me for trying to find a bus or shuttle that would cost less. When I couldn't I tried to get in a different cab, but he was next up and I was stuck with him. Guy was a piece of work loser. Even when I tried to be polite and pleasant, said thank you. he ignored me. He was a jerk. White cab. Beware. Ripoff.
        • I wish I could give this place 0 stars! Horrendous experience the whole way from drop off by our taxi till we boarded the plane (not helped by the low level of cleanliness - especially of the toilet facilities) The two worst stem from staffing at the airport being woefully inadequate. 1 - As non-EU citizens with purchases we were claiming tax back on, there was no staff member to stamp our receipt for 20 minutes and no idea where they were or when they would be returning to their open office. When he arrived back from what (based on his smell) I believe was a smoke break, he was playing on his phone rather than taking notice of the line of people waiting for him. He didn't even check the goods, just stamped the receipt and sent us to the tax return claim line. 2 - Passport control. How this airport runs with such horrendous passport control is beyond me. We low balled our estimate of the number of people who cut into the non-EU line at about 60. People trying to push in and when people wouldn't let them cut in front just using physical force or ducking under barriers. Not a staff member in sight to try and prevent this or keep things orderly. We were talking to some fellow travellers in line, all patiently waiting our turn when 3 of us who'd just met in line (2 young Australian women and 1 young Tunisian woman) all got pushed aside by a group of men charging through. Myself and the other young Australian woman were fine but the young Tunisian woman was pushed with such force she was nearly knocked to the ground as she went sideways into the barrier and was thankfully caught by someone else in the queue. Now I understand that Malpensa Airport can't be blamed for the rudeness of other passengers but clearly given the length of time we waited in line they need to employ more passport control staff and have an airport staff member keeping watch of the line to ensure passengers doing the right thing are not borderline assaulted.
        • Not the most inspiring airport and the chap at the train ticket office was not what I would describe as friendly! Not what you need when the trains are confusing to start with! Flying out security was quick and airport easier to navigate. Silly trains, buy a ticket and forget to stamp it and you can't use it....but you can buy a ticket for same price on the train, still trying to figure that one out!
        • One of the most terrible airline experiences of my life. This airport actually affected the way I see the country of Italy. I couldn't get help from the highest Airport manager down to the check-in clerks. I took my girl-friend and friend into the city and placed my baggage in the baggage deposit area around 3:30 pm and informed the baggage deposit associates that I would arrive back around ten. When I arrived at 10:30ish I was surprised to find a small lock on the deposit area door. I was never informed that the baggage area would close at ten even after I beforehand told the deposit people I would arrive back around 10. Never once did then mention then baggage area would close. When I arrived back to the airport I was in a desperate panic. I went to the highest official I could find and he called the airport manager after a series of sly comments and awkward faces. He said there was nothing they could do. I asked if I could please speak to the airport manager myself and he said it would be quote, "absolutely impossible". I then continued to try to find others that might be able to help me. No one could provide assistance. After moving from person to person. I essentially gave up. I re-booked my ticket in order to salvage the best of what me and my friend could choose. I feel as though the airport and this private service a running a miniature scam because I am sure this happens to countless people. I cannot not believe that this private company is not connected to the airport in anyway because it is literally smack in the middle of the airport. I will make sure that anyone I know that is travelling to Italy secure their luggage an watch out for this scam. The very next day I came back to the airport to get my luggage and told the "private" company of my immense trouble and the baggage deposit manager seemed to toy with me as I asked to please spare me the extra cost of holding the bags over night. I asked him to consider my story and he made like he pretended to recalculate the cost on his calculator but then showed me the exact same price he originally quoted me. He reaffirmed there would be no discount it would be impossible. I dealt with his lack of kindness and care and responsibly left having paid double the cost to keep my bags in this deposit area. I then checked in my things and when moving to my gate after checking in my bag I attempted to ask some clerks at another desk if my baggage would go straight to my final destination and before I could even ask the question they shrugged me off saying they do not work for my airline so please bugger off. This was one of the most terrible experiences I have had. I will be sure to be more responsible but there is no excuse for the rude and almost shameful assistance, or lack there-of at Malpense airport. I am writing here to allow for some much needed venting. Cheers to all !
        • Malpensa airport is better than expected.. It’s roomy. Huge actually! Quiet, clean, organized and easy. The tax free booth are not that crowded and so many booth so its faster to do all the tax-free business with them. Its direct and uncomplicated unlike other airports that you have to fall in line many times for the same transactions. In Malpensa, after showing your tax free stub, they assess and stamped pay you right there. Surprisingly easy as that. They have variety of restaurants, bars and cafes. Wide range of Duty Free Shops and Lounges for easy travel. The only thing You want to be careful with is since the airport is huge.. it will be a long walk from immigration to your gate. I doubt if three hours is enough from check in to the gate. Allow extra time to do everything. Anyways the airport has everything. So go to the airport early and if you have extra time.. you can go to lounges or any bar or restaurant inside the airport to relax. Have a safe and stress free travels. Ask me if you have more questions.
        • First of all this airport is not a pretty. And in some areas looks even rotten. The stuff is not as friendly they should be. And you have to take sometimes long ways to run. Nothing for people who cannot walk easy.
        • Very organized & well laid out airport.. from check-in to boarding.. staff very friendly & helpful. Busy airport but felt very safe. Airport is very clean - washrooms too... & lots of food & shopping options especially ZARA!!! while you wait.. very pleasant experience & seamless flight to Amsterdam 🇳🇱✈️🇮🇹
        • Very inefficient and poor layout unless you love walking through a shopping mall for roughly an hour. Every path takes passengers through duty free, and I understand most airports do that, but my goodness Milan takes it to another level. It’s like going into a full blown mall, and without a clear path you’ll find yourself weaving between shoppers to rush to your gate that is unnecessarily far away
        • Small airport, easy to get around & has access to Milan central via bus or train. Bus stop is at the front of airport can’t be missed. The tickets for a bus to the centre of Milan cost €8 each way and can be purchased prior to boarding from the driver. The main cons are lack of eateries and currency exchange places. There are a couple of currency exchange places but the rates are ridiculous not to mention a commission is also charged. My advice would be to use an ATM to obtain cash as the domestic exchange rates are better even with the international withdrawal fees.
        • I got to say, that the airport is a mixed bag. On one hand it seems to be well laid out and the staff is super-nice. Plus, there are artworks and so on. But the bathrooms are indeed a disaster. They are incredibly dirty (at 8:30 in the morning!) and a lot of them are broken. Some have non-closing doors, others lack wall hooks for carry-on, etc. And, besides, there are signs that wall fixtures support only 3 kg of weight. So you have a camera, a laptop and there you go. So what are you supposed to do in such situation? Stop using bathrooms? (And again, the floors are indescribably dirty so you cannot place your luggage on the floor). After about 10 minutes of searching I was able to find one bathroom that could be properly locked, that had a wall hook and wasn't dirty to the point of being unusable. Still it was really nasty! Seriously, I wouldn't expect this from the airport of one of the most gorgeous cities out there :( It is the worst bathroom I have ever used in an airport. It turned out to be broken as well, it kept flushing and flushing over and over again in an infinite loop :( Other small criticism is that bathroom doors are hard to use (it's not immediately obvious how to lock it and whether it is locked). Milan, you are Design Capital. Please, look how it's done in Riga airport, for example. Copy from the best! :)
        • One of the peaceful airport. Clean enough. Free WiFi is very helpful and it is unlimited.Restrooms are clean enough.Lot of shops with wide varieties of products are available. There are many Restaurants with mouthwatering food. Large collection of wine was seen in many stores. The seat arrangement in airport is very good. Flight landing and take off can be seen clearly. Staff at the airport are very friendly and helpful. But unlike other airports, I couldn't find a Money exchange center.
