• Kobe

  Kobe is the sixth-largest city in Japan, with a population of around 1.5 million. Kobe is the capital of Hyōgo Prefecture and is situated on the Island of Honshū, about 30 km west of Osaka.
  
  Kobe was devastated by a huge, magnitude 6.9, earthquake on January 17th, 1995. About 6,434 people were killed and a further 212,443 were rendered homeless by this tragic event. Some of the damage has been preserved as a memorial of this terrible natural disaster.

• Dotonbori

  Dotonbori is at night is Osaka's ultimate assault on the senses. A cornucopia of bizarre creatures adorns the buildings flanking this pedestrian mall: giant monsters slither down the buildings, restaurants, cinemas. theaters, games centers, and steamy noodle bars. No photograph can capture the intensity of this strange and unforgettable concourse.

• Nipponbashi

  In the Nipponbashi area you will find Den-Den Town, Osaka's sadly underwhelming answer to Tokyo's Akihabara electronics district.
  
  Nipponbashi is also famous as the national home of bunraku. Although its popularity waned during the Meiji paled, it has been "rediscovered" this century, the most dramatic evidence being the vast investment in the National Bunraku Theater in Nipponbashi.

• Shinsaibashisuji

  This is Osaka's widely known Shinsaibashi shopping mall, maybe not as well known as the in Tokyo equivalent markets of Ginza and Shinjuku.

  My recommendation is that you are short of time in the City - this should be the place you visit at night for an evening stroll.

• National Bunraku Theatre

  This is the home of national home of "bunraku". Japan's dazzling traditional puppet theater. Although various forms of puppet theater date back to the 11th century, the remarkably expressive and elaborately costumed bunraku style was thriving by the 17th century in both Osaka and Kyoto.

  More than just Japan's second city, Osaka is also the perfect base from which to explore nearby Nara and Kyoto by train.   Visited Kansai area almost 4 years ago and had a special experience in this airport. I have my first overnight experience in the airport due to the flight landed almost at midnight. We were lucky to find some empty seats (with no armrest, great for you to lay on it to take a nap) at a corner with minimal sound disruption for the night spent. The best part is, you can borrow a blanket (should be from the information counter) to keep you warm

  Well managed airport. Traffic is heavy but they have a way of managing it perfectly and professionally. Maps inside the building may be a bit too difficult to understand. It the sings are strategically placed and thus help passengers commuting to and from North and South wing. Check terminal of your airline before heading there, you might want to spare your time shopping inside the terminal. Arrival passengers wishing to get into the city by limousine bus, just go outside the main door and look for the Bay Area where bus stops are located. Check your destination, then the timetable and go to buy tickets from the ticketing machine. Staff will assist you with your luggage.

  This airport was amazing... Very nicely designed building with many things to do as there are many restaurants where you can dine in, the price of the foods are quite reasonable to be honest. The immigration system is nice and one good thing about the airport is that they line up your baggages out of the carousel so it will save the hassle of finding your bag..

  The arrival was quick and efficient. Although immigration was a bit chaotic, it was surprisingly quick. The luggage was also in the belt by the time we got through immigration. We ended up taking the ferry to Kobe, which was a welcomed change to the long hours sitting in the planes. On the way back check-in, security and emigration was also quick and efficient. The international terminal has a lot of high end shopping, but hardly any food options. Don't come hungry.

  This airport is a piece of cr@p. Immigration lines are horrible. Food choices limited. And no single restaurant has a machine that can read chip cards. Information not available 24 hours. Even Starbucks closes at 9 pm. Horrible. Flight somewhere else.
