The palace is believed to have been constructed between 724 an 743 AD during the reign of Umayyad Caliph Hisham.

The temple is located on the northern side of the upper section of Jabal Al- Qal’a. It served as the governors’ residence and administrative centre.

The place has unique architectural design and plan and has three main sections:

    • An audience hall- it is well decorated with geometrical patterns that portray Persian style. The hall is well preserved with several renovations being made. In 1998 it was roofed with a dome. Its dimensions are 24X26m. It served as an entrance to the Palace complex. The hall is a popular archaeological site in Jordan and the most significant part of the remains of the palace. It is shaped in a Greek cross plan.
    • The second section is the central part of the palace which comprises of ruins of nine independent buildings.
    • The last section is an open ground with a large water cistern with a diameter of 17.5m and a depth of 5m. The cistern was used to supply water to the latrines and other buildings within the palace.

        • This construction dates back to the first half of the 8th century. It's a large part in ruins. Interesting without being, however, spectacular.

        • The Umayyad Mosque is an ancient mosque dating back to the Umayyads. Located in the center of the Jordanian capital of Amman, specifically within the walls of the citadel of the city, which also contains many Umayyad monuments and the other civilizations that have followed the city for thousands of years. It was built in the eighth century AD, in an area adjacent to the Umayyad palace, where some of the facades and columns of the mosque are still visible. The layout of the mosque was designed as a square shape, and the Umayyad designers paid extra attention to its interior or exterior architecture, whether in terms of scale, structure or structure. The choice of signature style of the mosque is surrounded by arches made of graceful columns, adding to its interior architecture a beautiful design. But the most important aspect of this approach is the decision to deflect the signature of the mosque building from the axis of the other buildings of the complex, thus indicating the ability of the high architecture and its efficiency in employing what is known as Nuance. On the other hand, the decision to design the mosque to be adjacent to the front yard, of the decisions of the remarkable importance of the important, it is separated and isolated from the noise of the field adjacent to him, and lift it from the level of the arena with an artificial platform, and the establishment of physical presence, through degrees spacious and extended, created in front of the gallery of the mosque , And its wall decorated with decorative activity, I want to devote that attendance and raise the value of the building in a schematic and functional. These days, only a few columns and façades remain of this huge and luxurious building. The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities of Jordan restored the building in the early 1990s to be the current form.

        • Tip, if you have young people do not let them see the Luxor from above at the dome because it is open, and the one falls and dies, and leave the Ministry of Tourism .. The scenery is so sweet, and the atmosphere is beautiful ..
