    • Killarney
Poised on the northeastern shores of the Lough Lein and Lough Leane, part of the world-famous Killarney National Park, Killarney is an Irish town in the southwestern part of the country and of the most popular tourist destinations in Ireland, largely because of its focus on preserving the national history and heritage of its people, but also because of the landscapes surrounding as part of the Killarney National Park. This is one of the oldest tourist destinations in the world, with known tourism dating back to the mid 18th century , and today it boasts things such as Ross Castle—dating back to the 15th century—and festivals throughout the year such as the international musical festival known as SummerFest. Whether you want to explore the historical aspects of the town itself, or branch out into the surrounding countryside for some epic Irish scenery, Killarney lets you choose which is most important to you.

Killarney is a tourist destination, of that there can be no doubt. It boasts more hotels and hostels than any other city in the country outside of Dublin, and it is considered one of the top destinations for travelers, if not the destination. As such, it is fairly important that you book reservations well in advance of your trip, and plan to deal with crowds if you are here during the summer months when tourism is at its peak. You can choose to wander the streets of the city itself, or you can visit the Gap of Dunloe or the Ring of Kerry just outside, or see the Aghadoe burial grounds.

Many people choose to take day trips out into the countryside, either walking or cycling, but tours of the castle and other buildings are available if the weather doesn’t want to cooperate. Either way, from the old buildings to the history and culture to the natural beauty of the surrounding landscapes, Killarney can offer you a look into Irish life that no other place can match.

      • This was a truly lovely camping experience. Only seven pods in all, family friendly and the facilities all clean and fresh and only built four years ago! Situated at the top of a hill, it had beautiful views both day and night of the rolling Cork hills and was a walkers paradise. The owners could not do enough for you. Plus there are animals nearby to keep the children entertained along with a small playground and a brick built fire for evening getogethers. Truly a lovely place that I intend to return to!!
      • Beautiful campsite, exceprionally presented, clean and tidy, polite and helpful owners, lots of friendly animals to keep thet children entertained. Amazing and not to be passed by.

      • Stayed here a number of months ago with some friends. It is a beautiful and well-maintained site, in an incredibly scenic part of the Irish countryside, and the owners are lovely, too. I recommend it wholeheartedly.
