Users Assigned: KazmiThe first thing people think of when they hear Nevada is Las Vegas. The gambling capital of the world, also known as Sin City, Las Vegas has taken on a reputation all of its own over the past century since its days as just a worker’s town, but Nevada isn't just about the gambling. The state is packed with natural beauty and plenty of cities that are filled with plenty of adventure and excitement outside of the casinos and resorts, and when you throw in a few brothels here and there, you have a state unlike any of the others.
Nevada is unique in that almost 90% of the entire state is owned by the federal government. The vast majority of the area is unpopulated, with the cities being the main congregated areas. Nevada contains so much open space that many people incorrectly assume that it is nothing more than a barren wasteland of desert, which is far from the truth. From Lake Tahoe to the Truckee River to the rugged beauty of the Great Basin National Park, there is definitely more than meets the eye to this arid state, but it definitely takes getting out from underneath the glaring lights of the casinos to see it.
Most of Nevada is in what is known as the Basin and Range geographical province, which is filled with plenty of mountain ranges. If you are a person who enjoys time in the outdoors, then Nevada has plenty to offer, although it's definitely a different type of environment in comparison with more lush climates, since most of the state is definitely arid, and the terrain reflects this.
But, if you’d rather participate in some good old-fashioned Texas Hold ‘em, there are plenty of casinos to be found in the state, from Reno to Las Vegas to Carson City.
