• Eureka

  Eureka is on old logging town on the northern coast of California. It is approximately 270 miles north of San Francisco. Eureka is along Humboldt Bay. It is the county seat of Humboldt county. Its located near the Redwood forests and many parks that have trails into the forests. The population is about 30,000 people, it is the largest town along the coast, the nearest other city is Redding.
  
  This town is very far out of the way and must be reached by car. There are many good places to eat around the waterfront. Just north is the California State University at Humboldt, located in Arcata. Some people have moved north from the Bay Area after retiring. Some parts of Eureka have seen better days, since the lumber industry has been depressed, some parts of town aren't doing well. It is still a safe town though.

  Best views you're going to find along the coast. Great beaches and there's a nude beach too.

  Very nice place to go that's not overly crowded and easily accessible

  Was there at low tide where another beach is easily accessible. Fortunately only a few people there. Oeacful and quiet.

  WARNING!! This is a beatiful beach however, the way the beach is set up you walk down to the beach leaving your car. You cannot see your car or even hear if an alarm goes off. Also, people in the parking lot can watch the people below and take off if they see you coming. After speaking with locals, we were advised to REMOVE ALL VALUABLES from your car and leave it unlocked so you don't get a window broken out. Last, leave a sign in the window stating, "Car Unlocked, No Valuables Inside". Multiple previous victims!

  This is a superb and little-frequented beach with majestic seastacks that lies on the other side of the well-known Trinidad State Beach. I found this beach even more impressive, and a great spot to take beautiful sunset photos from the road above. It is not obvious to access unless one makes sure to use a GPS or other map.
