  It’s a pleasant town located on the eastern shores of Maryland. Ocean City has numerous shops and eateries that can be enjoyed by taking the boardwalk which is approximately two miles long. Places like the Assateague Island and the entire Delmarva Peninsula happens to be located nearby the Ocean City. This destination is most visited from May to September. Special themed weeks are planned e.g. for graduating high school students, they hold a Beach week in June and in September there’s the crafts festival.

  I spent two nights here -- 7/5/18 and 7/6/18 -- camping on the beach. I'd been to Assateague before, but never camped on a beach before. It's a special place -- you'll definitely see wild horses on the beach and on the roads. The horses are beautiful, and I had several encounters with them that I'll never forget. One involved a stallion galloping past me on the beach -- which luckily I caught on camera. I also filmed a (living) horseshoe crab at the waters edge -- an amazing critter. This one was was about the size of a dinner plate. The first night was muggy inside the tent, but I slept on and off. The second day/evening/night was ruined by a storm -- and BUGS. I was mauled by mosquitoes and horseflies, and I got no sleep with the storm that came through that night -- it was a miracle that my tent didn't blow away -- with me in it. How bad the bugs might be is dependent upon the wind direction. If the wind is blowing in from the ocean, it will blow the insects inland (if you're camping in the marshes, God help you). If, on the other hand, the wind is blowing out to see, it blows the insects out to the beach. If camping on the beach, be sure to pack a dust pan and brush -- the sand gets EVERYWHERE. And don't forget sand stakes for your tent -- you will absolutely need them. All staff that I interacted with were knowledgeable and friendly -- they do a great job, and the campground was clean and well managed.

  Assateague Island is one of the best places in Maryland/Virginia. Family friendly activities can be found just about anywhere here.

  Fun place to visit. The rangers really care about the horses here. I come here every time I visit Ocean City. There are also kayak rentals and trails in addition to the beaches so you can make a whole day or a few days out of it even if you're not camping.

  Going down day after tomorow. Ive been going for years we leave at dawn and eat IHOP on the way and camp for 5 days 4 nights and the horses are freindly bays calm and beaches sunny great campsites i camp in a tent ,and bring my own kayak wich is great to paddle the bay in. Many activities such as claming, crabing, and sandcastle building competitions. Great food off the island and fun board walk. 10/10

  You pay $20 to get in an maybe you don't actually see a horse... but one thing is for sure... you will see lots and lots of horse poop everywhere. So much poop you can barely walk without stepping in it and of course as it bakes in the sun it just draws massive amounts of flies... definitely not worth the money.
