    The Apple Valley Inn has not been a place for accommodations for more some 30yrs.

    It has been zoned for commercial use only since 2003. The old cottages that the movies stars used to stay in are now private commercial businesses.

    The main building - which was the hotel check-in, restaurant, bars, and pool still exist and are now used for private or public client based on referral business.

    There is no open day to day operation - but, there they are open for public events throughout the year and private events; weddings, birthdays, retirement, fundraisers etc.

      • Big Bear Lake
        Outdoor enthusiast will love Big Bear Lake in any season. What started as an irrigation project became the worlds' largest man-made lake of its time in the late 19th century.

        The lake is bordered by the cities of Fawnskin and Big Bear City. The area was originally settled by Serrano Indians and became popular with bear hunters. Later, Big Bear became a gold prospecting town.

        The mountain communities built up around tourism fought for and won a battle for control of the lake. This hard fought battle allowed locals to stabilize lake levels guaranteeing consistent recreational and wildlife usage.

        Although you can still see bears in Big bear, today the area is known for skiing, mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding, boating, and fishing.

        In the summer the Lake is filled with people in small boats. There's water skiing, jet skiing, sailing, wakeboarding, kayaking and canoeing.

        It's time to venture off the Lake in winter and spring and hit the slopes. There is a bevy of snow filled activities during the winter months. Skiing, snowboarding, sledding are all apart of the winter land merriment.

        During October, Big Bear City throws a great Oktoberfest celebration. During July 4th weekend you can attend Old Miner's Days. In December, you can celebrate Christmas in the village.

          This facility is such a sad state of affairs. If you choose to visit Apple Valley Inn you will see a complex that should be amazing. There is such potential for this campus to serve the community in excellence. However, you will run down, neglected, delapidated structures. A great piece of history that has been left in the past.
