  Known as the Land of 10,000 Lakes, Minnesota is a northern state within the U.S. that is known for the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, as well as the vast number of waterways and forests that make up the wilder regions of the state. With nearly 60% of the state's residents living in the Twin City metropolitan area, the rest of the state is divided up into agricultural regions, deciduous forests which have been somewhat cleared and settled, and the great North Woods area, which is heavily mined and forested, but also an area of great natural beauty with plenty of parks and recreational facilities. It is the second northernmost state aside from Alaska, and borders along Lake Superior.
  
  Along with being home to the Twin Cities, Minnesota is a state that is full of natural beauty. There are 72 state parks, including Itasca State Park, which was first established in 1891 and home to the source of the Mississippi River. With so many parks scattered throughout the state, it's no wonder that the reason most people come here is for the natural beauty of the landscape. There are four ecological sections throughout the state, with the Prairie Parkland in the southwest, the Eastern Broadleaf Forest in the southeast, the Tallgrass Aspen Parkland in the northwest, and the Laurentian Mixed Forest in the north. This is one of the best places in the country to catch a glimpse of timber wolves, black bears, and moose. The fishing is also known as being some of the best in the nation.
  
  As far as cities go, the Twin Cities offer all the modern amenities one could expect from an American metropolitan area. The history goes back to the days of the Native Americans and the French fur traders that came here in the 17th century. These days the state’s mining and logging histories are well documented, and can be referenced at various historical sites throughout the state.

  I've been going to BIR for almost 20 years and my latest visit was anything but enjoyable. I totally agree with another reviewer about the tunnel. It's covered in trash, wet, poorly lit and just plain dangerous. I also agree with another about the entrance. Signage is poor and confusing. When you finally get to the gate it's a very slow process to get in. This doesn't even take into consideration the $50 for 2 people for one day. I drove to multiple different turns to watch the action and was followed by security like I was doing something wrong. I have never been so disappointed and insulted in all my years of going there. I've noticed in the past Security trying to intimidate visitors but never expected it to be turned on me. I won't be returning.

  It's huge, fast and a great time for the whole family. Nice place to camp, and the Wheelie Bar is cool too.

  B.I.R. is a racing institutions. This is one of two tracks in the NHRA circuit that has camping. This track has had speed records set at it, and has hosted some of the biggest names in racing history. B.I.R has there own road coarse driving school. Where you can learn more proficient driving skills. I have been visiting this track since I was a small child. Many of my fondest memories were forged here, and are still being molded.
