      • Batam Island
        Spanning 45km X 25km, this small yet busy island of Indonesia has a population of close to a million people, and holds hundreds of multinational owned factories, towns and shopping centers. It is also the gateway to the Riau Islands. Located 20km from Singapore and 25km away from Johor in Malaysia, Batam is the island where new economic policies and ideas are tested out on before being adopted at a bigger scale. The few main cities in Batam are: Nagoya(Lubuk Baja),Nongsa,Batam Centre,Sekupang,Sei Jodoh and Telaga Punggur.

        Even though the official language on the island is Indonesian, Chinese dialects and Mandarin is widely used due to the large Chinese population.

        Most tourists, from nearby Singapore, visit the island for her prostitution and illegal casinos. If none of these has of particular interest to you, Bintan would be a better choice for a resort vacation.

        Other than the reasons mention above. A new addition to Batam would be Montigo Resort that would worth a visit.

      • Sentosa
        Sentosa, which translates to peace and tranquility in Malay, is a popular island resort in Singapore, visited by some five million people a year.

        Standing tall on the island is the Merlion statue. History recalls the story of the legendary Sang Nila Utama, a Prince from Palembang, who saw a lion on the island (originally known as Temasek) while hunting. The island was then named Singapura. "Singa" meaning lion and "Pura" a city. The 37 metre (12 storey) high statue can be entered through the ground floor, and one can take the lift up to 12th floor to view the city state. Opened in 1996, it is the tallest Merlion in the whole Singapore.

        Sentosa Island offers a variety of attractions, museums and other facilities to provide a variety of experiences, recreation and entertainment to visitors.

        Attractions include a two-kilometer long sheltered beach, two golf courses and two five-star hotels, Resort Worlds at Sentosa and Hard Rock Hotel Singapore.

        Other attractions include:

        Theme park Universal Studios Singapore.
        Tiger Sky Tower, is free-standing observation tower on Sentosa, at the height of 110 meters above ground.
        The Butterfly Park, is a landscape garden with over 15,000 live butterflies, representing more than fifty species.
        The Songs of the Sea show, started on 26 March 2007, replaced the 25-year-old Musical Fountain show.
        The Sentosa 4D Magix, Singapore's first and Southeast Asia's original 4-dimensional theater.
        The CineBlast, opened in June 2007, is Singapore's only cinema ride.
        Fort Siloso, in the west of the island where you will see the preserved guns used to guard the island during World War II.
        The Sentosa Luge & Skyride, a self-steering, gravity-driven three-wheel cart. Originated from New Zealand, the non-motorized cart allows rider to speed down a hill over a course of 650 m ending at the Siloso Beach.
        The Flying Trapeze, a form of sport and recreation that helps develop one's mind, body and coordination. It also helps conquer one's fear of height.

        Sentosa is also the venue for Singapore's ultimate yearly held beach party - Zoukout!

        You can travel to Sentosa Island Easily via the Cable Car, Drive in, Sentosa Express (Light Rail) , Or even just walk in! However do note that driving and walking into the island itself requires entrance fee.

      • Chinatown
        Chinatown is a historical place in Singapore where in olden British Colonial days , it is the place where immigrants of China gathers.

        Chinatown is a heritage area filled with the Chinese Cultural and is extremely crowded during period of Chinese New Year Festive season. Shophouses along the streets were buildings that goes way back to Singapore history.

        Chinatown consist of a Chinatown Heritage Center where you can get a glimpse of the olden days of Chinatown and the history behind this place.

        A good place to visit and take a look however don't expect too much from the layback place. There is no grand shopping centers in this area however Chinatown is just beside Clarke Quay where you can have a beer after your trip here.

      • Boat Quay
        Boat Quay, situated at the southern bank of the Singapore River was once the busiest port of old Singapore during the British colonial days serving as the key trading point for traders.

        The area which was once swampy with raft houses for laborers and traders is now a hip place for alfresco dining and pubs. The row of shophouses lining the river now houses many bars, spas and restaurants offering from local, seafood to international cuisines.

        Traces of the past can still be seen through the bumboats which were once used for transporting goods along the river and are now converted to carrying passengers for a river cruise.

        Take a walk along the pedestrian side or take the river cruise or just sit and have a drink by the river and enjoy the truly unique experience of the old and the new which is essentially Boat Quay!

        Close to the Central Business District of Singapore, Boat Quay attract after office crowds for a drink before heading home. To get to Boat Quay, the nearest MRT would be "Raffles Place Station" From there walking distance can get you to this awesome place filled with bars and pub.

      • Little India
        Little India is exactly what it says on the tin; the center of Singapore's Indian community and one of the most vibrant and colourful areas of the city.

        As almost 2 million Indian workers are employed in the city a year, a network of shops and temples has sprung up to support the population. Here you see more Tamil and Hindi, and you can marvel at the incredible Hindu and Buddhist temples while enjoying some excellent Indian food.

        There are also various shopping mall located in Little India, including City Square Mall and the popular mustafa shopping center which is very popular among tourist for it's variety of items available as well as being opened 24 hours.

        There are also a few good Indian restaurants in little India that are worth a try.

      • Orchard Road
        Orchard Road is the prime shopping street of Singapore. If you are looking for designer fashion or the newest electronics, there is where to find it.

        Orchard Road can be considered the area for good shopping in Singapore considering the number of malls situated here. Orchard road can be easily accessed by MRT (Metro in Singapore) at Orchard station. In fact it stretches all the way from dhoby ghaut station to orchard station.

        Popular malls located on the road includes new malls like ION to malls that were there for quite sometime including WISMA, Paragon, Ngee Ann City, etc etc. Each malls cater to different kind of shopping experience. Some malls feature more high end products, some feature more local shopping experience, some are catered for big brands.

        A trip to Singapore would have to include a visit to orchard road to experience the Singapore Shopping scene.

        Also there are a few drinking places in orchard road, mainly around somerset station area where there is KPO which was an old post office turned into a pub or you can just go for a drink at the stretch of bar located opposite Somerset 313 at Emerald Hill.

        Changi. The first place in Singapore visitors traveling by air will arrive. Located at the eastern side of Singapore, Changi is well known for Changi Airport , Terminal 1 , 2 ,3 as well as budget Terminal.

        To access Changi Airport, one can take a Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Metro to the location.

        Changi is also known for Changi Village. A place where there is a hawker center and the pier for travelers taking ferry to Pulau Ubin.
