The idyllic village at the foot of the famous Matterhorn, did change to one of the most important summer- and winter- spa.

In Zermatt there are no cars. Electric-cars, horse-drawn sleighs and carriages are the only transport allowed.

Skiing, hiking, and mountaineering are the main attractions of the resort. There are numerous advanced ski slopes, and not many beginner level slopes. The highest cable station in Europe is here on the top of Klein Matterhorn.

Zermatt is a wonderful place in the summer with brightly colored flowers everywhere. It is a perfect warm out and the people are very pleasant. The nice quaint buildings make you think like your in a fairy-land place beyond my description.

Dont let the warm day in Zermatt fool you if you take the 3 stage tram to the Matterhorn like it did for me. I had my summer clothes on and didn't realize it is bitter cold with a strong wind chill factor on the top. It was a wonderful adventure but I almost froze to death on the Matterhorn.
