Montego BayMontego Bay is one of two major cities on the island of Jamaica to have an international airport (the other is Kingston). It is on the northwest side of the island in close proximity to popular tourist destinations such as Negril and Ocho Rios. It's also one of the major ports for cruise ships and other commerce.
The city has a mix of complete westernization (KFCs & Burger Kings) and untouched natural beauty. There is a full array of shopping, dining and nightlife choices and one of the popular destinations for both locals and tourists happens to be Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville. Then of course there are the beaches and the lush green foliage everywhere. White sands, clear to turquoise waters and coconut trees abound. This is an absolute must if your in the area. Great food. This is where the locals tell you to go. You see them eating there as well as a few tourist like myself that were lucky enough to hear off this place. Get off your all inclusive resort and say you've eaten real Jamaican

Scotchies has the best Jerk Meals ever. Its done on the wood fire and service is excellent. Food is great.

Don't miss this place if you're in Montego Bay!! Wood fire grilled jerk chicken and pork. Very reasonably priced. Under $35 for 5 people to eat including a nice size tip.

Fabulous food. Be careful with the green sauce, it is extremely spicy. I love hot and spicy and this sauce is the only one to give me hiccups! Delicious, authentic Jamaican food, highly recommended.

Went here last year to try out "the best jerk chicken on the island" and what i left feeling, was that i had the best jerk pork. Ever. I can't wait to go back in a few weeks. Tip - we ordered "family style" and they brought out some of everything. Their sides were fantastic. Jerk sausage and the fish was great as well. The pitmasters were very friendly as well. Best thing was, got to meet Bounty Killer! He was just finishing lunch when we showed up. Real ambassador for Jamaica now that he has grown up.

I came across Scotchies restaurant by chance about 12 years ago when work took me to Montego Bay for a couple days, (I live in Kingston). I needed an affordable but tasty lunch option, and a friend took me to Scotchies.
I was surprised I’d never heard about it before, but even more surprising was the taste. Not only was the jerk chicken absolutely delicious, it was also real authentic Jamaican jerk, and I’d always thought you could only get that at Boston Jerk Center (but that’s for another review).
For those of you who don’t know, real jerk is ‘smoked’ over wood logs, and seasoned to perfection using pimento and a mix of pepper and spices. There’s a lot of imitation jerk around these days done in ovens and on grills, but Scotchies has the real thing. It’s absolutely flavorful, and of course that’s because it’s done the old-fashioned way.
In addition to the juicy jerk chicken, pork, and fish, they also have a wonderful choice of sides including, breadfruit, sweet potato, rice and peas, festival, plantain, and more.
Another reason I enjoy Scotchies so much is because of the ambience. I love the outdoors, and Scotchies makes optimal use of the natural environment, so you can take you delicious jerk meal right from the fireside to your seat … which is made of wood of course.
If you’re ever in Jamaica and looking for an authentic dining experience that’s close to nature, Scotchies Montego Bay is the place go. They also have another location in Ocho Rios, St. Ann.
Scotchies is one of my favourite places to eat whenever I travel to Montego Bay or Ocho Rios. It’s set up just the way we like things here in Jamaica ... no frills, no fuss, no problem.- 50s
