      • Dublin
The increasingly cosmopolitan streets of Dublin have had a tumultuous time recently. As both the greatest benefactor of EU membership and – aside from Iceland’s bankruptcy – and one of the worst suffering nations in the recent recession (as the locals tell it – What’s the difference between Ireland and Iceland? Six months…), Dublin nevertheless remains stoutly characterful, and rightly draws countless tourists.

The Temple Bar district is at the heart of it. The Irish are a vivaciously sociable bunch, and the cobbled streets of Temple Bar host parties night after night, locals energised on Dublin Bay seafood and slurping pint after pint of the ‘The Black Stuff’ (Guinness) whilst listening to the twanging sounds of traditional Irish music, and joining together in the search for a late night ‘lock in’ to keep the revelry moving until dawn.

In fact, head to Smithfield and you can get an early start, with the Jameson Distillery offering whiskey samples and a factory tour (be ready to volunteer fast and you can grab free extras), and St. James’ Gate – the home of Guinness for the coming 9,000 years – just across the river and filling the air with the heady smell of hops for miles around.

Dublin city center has a number of architectural gems, with cathedrals, castles, universities, churches and some fascinating examples of modern style also. They’re all highly picturesque, great examples of the towering architecture that still props up the city center; head for Halfpenny Bridge to hunt down the historical heartland, or sample some of the excellent museums (the National Gallery is particularly noteworthy) for a taste of a fascinating past.

Just outside Dublin you’ll find country pubs and cliff top walks, as well as a spot the locals use as a icy hangover cure, the rocky ‘swimming pool’ that is the 40 foot. Nearby you can explore Ireland’s literary heritage with a trip to James Joyce's former home (a turret overlooking the sea), or grab some fish and chips in a newspaper and sit on the grass with the locals. Dublin is steeped in revolutionary history, but remains an essential – if somewhat expensive – party town. Make the most of both.

        • Bit into some food and broke the top of my front tooth, the dentist repaired it there and then and carried out a full clean while he was at it. Really great dentist very friendly and gives an extremely professional service. Even took photos and documented his work to show me afterward. I highly recommended them if your nervous as they will put you at ease and take care of what u need done.
        • I've been going here for 10 years now and the quality and health of my mouth and teeth is amazing. The approach is prevention and I've had very few fillings in those 10 years. Clean modern and comfortable. I wouldn't trust anywhere else.
        • better late than never : went 5 years ago for gum/tooth infection. Not only did the dentist made nasty comments about the state of my mouth, I could also feel he didn't like me being there because I wasn't an Irish national. To top it off, he tried to get me to accept a 1800€ root canal treatment for 3 teeth, when only one was infected. Went back to France a week later and got the single tooth treated for 50€. My dentist laughed at the " scammer " when I told him the story. A very bad experience overall. I'm sure Irish nationals have a good time there though, for obvious reasons.
        • This dentist cured my headaches! I had been suffering with daily headaches for over 2 years. I would wake up most mornings with a pain in my left temple.About a year ago I went to see my GP. I was prescribed painkillers but I was still in the dark as to what was causing them. While having a check up at Leixlip Dental Centre I mentioned this to the dentist John. He told me that I had an overbite and that I was grinding my teeth at night and this may be the cause of my headaches. He got a mould of my teeth and a night time mouth splint made.I have been wearing the mouth splint for nearly 2 weeks now and no headaches! John asked that I make a follow up visit to check it was fitting correctly. I told him that I had a bit of pain in my 2 front teeth with it. He made a little adjustment and now it's sitting perfectly. I'm no longer popping prescribed medication or Ibuprofin everyday. I'm on the dental plan with Leixlip Dental Centre so I received a 20% discount on the price of the mouth splint which was great. Others may be in the same boat as me and would never have thought that a dental issue was causing their headaches. So a huge thank you to John and Leixlip Dental Centre
