Overview You can't Edit
Users Assigned: KazmiTirana is the capital of Albania since 1920. With its population of over 700,000 inhabitants, is the principal political, industrial and cultural center of Albania and is the headquarters of the most important national institutions.
Founded in 1614 by Sulejman Pasha, an Ottoman general, Tirana has started its development in the eighteenth century.
The city, which has suffered an extreme overbuilding, but with the start of the new century has begun to transform itself by important changes, many illegal buildings were demolished and many parks have sprung up. Several roads have been rebuilt. The city is now home to a number of large modern buildings.
In the beautiful Skendenbeu Square is one of the main buildings of historical interest in Tirana: the Mosque of Ethem Beu, which began in 1789 and finished building in the 20s in 1800, with its clock tower of 1830. In the square there are also many bars and restaurants.
