The people of Santo Domingo are proud of their heritage, which is a fantastic mix of ethnic of Tainos, Africans and Spanish. This Spanish speaking town was the first European settlement in the Western hemisphere and is the capital and largest city of Dominican Republic. Early history abounds here dating back to Christopher Columbus.

Santo Domingo offers an interesting contrast of a cosmopolitan city, trying to find a place into the modern city catalog, and the Old City (“the Colonial Zone”) a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Christopher Columbus' history lies within the old city. Take a walking tour around to discover the past which has shaped Santo Domingo for many years.

Once you land at the airport, the drive into Santo Domingo follows a very beautiful rocky shoreline and a turquoise water sea. The city is located in the coast of the Caribbean Sea, and along the coast and within the city there are plenty of hotels in the with several price range available.
