Sabang is a small village in Palawan. You can get buses from San Jose bus station in Puerto Princesa. There are many guesthouses and hotels are ranging from luxury to budget the further you walk down the beach. The tourist information centre at Puerto Princesa airport have a lot of information about getting there and prices.

It's main attraction is the Puerto Princesa Underground River which is claimed to be the longest underground river in the world and is situated in Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park. From Sabang you take a boat to a near by bay which is a short walk to the entrance of the underground river. Boats then take you for a short journey into the cave with a tour guide explaining different information and pointing out interesting things.

    • Palawan
Palawan - the long, narrow island in the southwestern part of the Philippines - has often been called the last frontier of the Philppines: there remain indigenous tribes that have not fully integrated into modern society. This is not to say, however, that the island is untouched by development. On the contrary, large tracts of clear cut land can easily be seen, and there are many cities and tourist resorts, especially on the northern half of the island.

Puerto Princessa City, the capital, has an airport and can be easily reached from Manila. There are several other airports in the north of the island and on smaller islands immediately to the north. Once there, however, getting around Palawan is a bit difficult; more often than not, a boat will be needed to get to the more remote villages.

Northern Palawan: The more popular and scenic resorts in Palawan are located in the northern area, however. They are known because of the white sand, crystal clear waters, and house reefs you can explore while snorkelling or diving. More information can be found on the net by typing 'Northern Palawan' on any one of the search engines.

Palawan, the only Philippine island cited, has been rated by National Geographic Traveler magazine as the best island destination in East and Southeast Asia region in 2007, and the 13th best island in the world having "incredibly beautiful natural seascapes and landscapes. One of the most biodiverse (terrestrial and marine) islands in the Philippines... The island has had a Biosphere Reserve status since early 1990s, showing local interest for conservation and sustainable development".

    • Puerto Princesa
Puerto Princesa is the capital of Palawan, in the Philippines. It is not necessarily a destination in and of itself, at least not according to the mass tourism industry, which mainly uses the city as a headquarters for excursions to the outer regions of the island itself. This is a shame, because the city offers a wide variety of adventures for a wide variety of visitors, with the prerequisite of being willing to look beyond the surface and delve into the shrouded secrets of the Philippines. Often heralded as the cleanest and most modern city in the Philippines, as well as one of the most environmentally friendly, Puerto Princesa boasts access to such destinations as the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park—otherwise known as the Underground River—and places like Honda Bay, and the Palawan Wildlife Rescue and Conversation Centre, well known for its crocodile farms.

Exploring Princesa requires an understanding of Filipino life, and an understanding of the history of its people and cities. In this case, Princesa can be traced back to the Princess Asuncion, a Spanish princess who unfortunately died at a young age, at which point Queen Isabella II renamed her to Puerto de la Princesa. The settlement as it exists today dates back to 1872 when it was founded by Spanish colonials. And while the vast majority of the ruins have been modernized, you can still see traces of Spanish colonial in some of the buildings around the island, and in the city.

Puerto Princesa is not a tropical paradise city. It is packed with people, and easiest way to get around is by jeepneys and tricycles. Accommodations and food will depend on your budget, and while the city definitely has its own unique appeal, the main reasons to come here are for the destinations surrounding the island and the city itself. Either way, this is one of the best places to experience the Philippines in a modernized setting.
