    Poprad, the third largest town of the eastern Slovakia (and the tenth Slovak largest town) is approximately situated on the 49° north latitude and the 20° east longitude. The Poprad Town is located in the broad steady, highly situated valley on both sides of the Poprad River. In the northern part of the town, the massif of the High and Belianské Tatras is spread, in the eastern part, it is the Levoča mountain chain, in the south, there is a low highland of the Kozie chrbty, and in the west, there are heights of the Štrbské dividing ridge. The High Tatras massif heightens the valley approximately at 2,000m.

    In the town surroundings agricultural lands are located, which transfer into continuous forest complex. In a picturesque clearway of the High Tatras, since 1946, the history of so called Great Poprad, which has penetrated the awareness of both Slovaks and the international community as a gateway to the smallest European alpine mountains.Social, economic, and geographical significance of the town results from its advantageous transport location at the E50 road of the international significance and a main railway route Košice-Bratislava with a connection to the Czech Republic and Ukraine as well as the aerial connection, provided by the international airport Poprad - Tatry (belonging to the airports with the highest location in Europe – 718 m above sea level).

    • Zakopane
      Zakopane, situated in southern part of Poland close to Slovakian border, is recognised as a capital of Polish Tarta Mountains, being the most popular place in the region. The population is only about 30 thousand, but every year around 2-3 million tourists visits the town.

      Central part of the town is located at 850 m above sea level. To the north rises Gubałówka band, and to the south Giewont - the most well known Polish mountain. Zakopane is an attractive and conveniently located tourist base for hikers and walkers, as well as winter sports. It has a privately own local transport - minibuses, providing good connections for all trail locations.

      Zakopane is a very important cultural center with lots of museums and art galleries. Few well know people are related to Zakopane - Henryk Sienkiewicz, Stefan Żeromski, Kazimierz Przerwa-Tetmajer, Mieczysław Karłowicz, Karol Szymanowski and Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz.

    • Ochtiná
      The village Ochtiná lies at the upper flow of the river Štítnik, under the hill Hrádok. The first written mention from the year 1243 mentions an existence of a mine and church in the territory. The name of the village raised from the old German word ocht, like acht. In the past Ochtiná was a significant mining and iron centre, but it still can offer a lot to its visitors. There is a precious sacral monument – evangelical church declared national cultural monument. The church was built in a Roman style in the first half of the 13th century. In the 17th century it was restored and they reconstructed it in the years 1958-1977 for the last time. Precious wall paintings from the end of the 14th century situated in its interior has preserved up to the present. Nearby there is an evangelical presbytery. Monumental board in its frontage documents that professor Jonáš Bubenka, who prepared the first issue of Orbis Pictus, initiator of Slovak history and geography Ladislav Bartholomaeides worked here.

      The biggest tourist attraction in Ochtiná is the Ochtinská aragonitová jaskyňa (Ochtina Aragonit Cave). The cave is the world unique due to rich aragonite decoration creating various shapes similar to bunches, bushes, corals and nests. Appearance to its uniqueness the Ochtina Aragonit Cave was recorded to the list of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage UNESCO. Besides those interests the village Ochtiná is famous for its handicraft of small bells and for beekeeping.
