• Sipadan Island

  Sipadan island is a small island located near the island of Mabul. Since 2005, only 120 divers and non-divers per day are allowed. Most accommodation, budget longhouses and 5 star resorts are located on Mabul island.

• Semporna

  Semporna is the gateway to the most amazing diving in Malaysia. However it is also a dirty, smelly, poor place. Not as bad as small towns in Indonesia or Philippines but very close. The market is in the center of town and you can see all sorts of produce. Fish is abundant as are many protected species. The bottled chilli sauce is excellent as are the fruit and veg.
  
  The lower level town is dominated by dive operators and coffee shops. Food is good in a number of street cafes and you can even get western food at some locations. The upper town from the market has a wider range of shops and the petrol stations. The supermarkets have a wide range of goods and there is really no shortage of any basic supplies.
  
  The bus and long distance taxi's go from the upper town just past May Bank and the Mosque.
  Getting to the islands depends on your operator. Many resorts are now using the New Tourist Jetty which is 5min out of town past the bus station on the Hospital road. Other resorts still use the public jetty in the middle of lower town.

  A very beautiful island. Words can not explain the beauty of this place. A small island a bit far away from Semporna accessible with boats. There are various options for a stay, multiple resorts also cheaper options to stay. There are various options for scuba diving and snorkelling here. Most people stay here would be interested in scuba diving. There are very beautiful coral reefs in this region. If you visit Sabah, this island is worth a shop over. The colourful waters all around make it worth a visit.

  Beautiful island village, on clear nights if you are lucky you can spot some nebulas with the naked eye! Only cons is the island is filled with trash from the villagers.

  Came here on the first day of my AOW. Visual condition was bad underwater as storm had just passed. You can still see the sunken ships and the marine life surrounding them. BE CAREFUL of sea snakes and lion fish.

  Good diving even visibility was bad. Even see Manta ray on one dive. Island is covered with trash what is a shame. Local gipsys seem to trash a lot.
• El Casanelles
  Diving and snorkeling, very good reef, with abundance of sea turtles and your share of jelly fish. Hard to find middle range accommodation. The village is nice, dirty, but nice. Locals are very friendly and you can buy some supplies.
