Users Assigned: KazmiThe semi-desert Island of Fuerteventura lies just under 100km off the coast of Africa (near the border of Morocco and Western Sahara). It enjoys a near-perfect climate with average monthly temperatures ranging from 17°C in January to 25°C in August.
Fuerteventura is the longest Island in the archipelago at 98km north to south and the second-largest Canary Island after Tenerife. The unforgiving barren and arid interior of the island shares much with it's African neighbors of Morroco and the Western Sahara including sparse rainfall, rocky-desert landscapes (the temperature of these rocks can reach 67°C on a hot day!) and simple flat-roofed white-washed villages.
Fuerteventura is perhaps most famous for it's beaches, with over 50km of stunning white and golden sand. Despite Tourism being a relatively recent phenomenon on the island, there is a well developed infrastructure with Golf Courses, a Zoo, a Water Park and numerous Marine Excursions. If you fancy something a bit more active, the Island offers great Surfing, Windsurfing and Kite Surfing as well as Big Game Fishing and Diving.
If you just want to take it easy, then those miles of white sandy beaches make the perfect getaway, even in peak season you should be able to find a relatively secluded spot for yourself

My favourite place. Amazing landscape, amazing villages in land. Beautiful beaches with lively warm waters and amazing people. Corralejo is my ideal choice but hire a car and see the island. It's got so much to offer

Fuerta is probably the best island in the Canary Islands, it has fantastic beaches, warm sea, genuine locals who give twice as much back as you put in. From the tight twisty mountain roads which are a car nuts delight, the views over the landscape which changes with the seasons, very little chance of rain, very high chance of wind, which means the sun screen is a must even though it feels cool. You will crisp within a day if you don't! Once you leave the tourist places you find a whole new world, beaches with no one on them, pounding surf, quiet villages where the locals speak no English, but you get on just fine with a few words. Then there is the cheese!

This is the island of the surprises. A million kind of material, texture, colours and so many beautiful, undamaged places. This is the place where you have the feeling that the time is stopped. The endless calm, the sound of the nature is extremely amazing. I can recommend it to everybody who is in love with the nature. :)

We have been with my wife to Fuerte 2x and going again. Beautiful beaches,nature,food. great place to relax with lots of sun. we love all Canary islands, been there 8 times already.

Wow feeling, beautiful deserted kilometers long sandy beaches, good roads, friendly and relaxed people, relaxed atmosphere. Corralejo Sand Dunes Natural Park was amazing, the beaches nearby likewise. We were also impressed by the moon-like scenery of the southern tip of the island. Ajuy black beach with the black cave was also a great experience. There is always sunshine here.
