Here are some reviews of Calle de Balderas - don't forget to let us know how you got on by using the drop box at the bottom of the page, or joining our community and making a review.

        • We enjoyed our time here. There were many, many, many different stalls with a variety of crafts, clothing, food, trinkets, home dec, instruments, etc to peruse. Here we purchased a weekender bag, home decor, scarfs, local tapestry art among other things. The stalls are easy to navigate. You are easily left alone to browse on your own. There were a few eager to help but for the most part we enjoyed our leisurely browsing. We also ate here. The food was okay. The cool thing was three of us ate and drank for 130 pesos. This market is a must for locally made stuff at local prices.
        • This place is almost entirely full of kitschy tourist souvenirs, pretty much the same stuff the touts are selling at the pyramids. I would say skip this market and head to the 'Museo de Arte Popular' relatively close by. The gift store there sells crafts which are a lot more unique and higher quality than at Cuidadela.
        • It is like a museum. The amount of pieces and their quality is just... extravagant? I have seen incredible art works Although it has its own parking, it tends to be full, you'll spend some time getting a spot. Rarely one can pay with credit cards, dare to bring cash.
        • Awesome market full of all the Artisans goods you could imagine. I feel like a lot of booths mark up their prices because they are expecting bartering. Definitely shop around to find the best prices and the designs. Every booth is slightly different. The people are delightful. I would say about half of them speak English, but they are used to tourists that don't speak great Spanish and will try to accommodate you.
        • Huge artisan market and souvenir shop with a nice restaurant when you get tired and hungry from shopping! You can find handy craft and beautiful textile from all regions of Mexico. You can browse around and not get hasseled. I always come here before heading back to the US for some last minute gifts.
        • One of the best Mexican markets I have ever been too. Yes they raise the prices because they are resellers but thats normal. And if you speak Spanish they wont give you much of a gringo tax 😉😉
        • worth a visit if your close by. Most of the items are from Oaxaca/Chiapas. No The textiles are great. I picked up some fantastic beaded birds suitable for Christmas ornaments.
        • Great spot for all your souvenirs. Pottery, copper, cloth, wood toys, silver. Restaurant inside isn't bad although service was pretty "relaxed". There are several food stalls outside and a big park across the street. Nothing is too pricey so I recommend doing your shopping in one go rather than returning.
        • Nice place to shop for Mexican handicrafts. You can actually spend hours here seeing the different craftsmen/women carving out beauties out of nothing.
        • Beautiful market, clean, convenient, safe. There is a wide variety of artesanal souvenirs; pottery, silver, seni-precious stones as well as t-shirts, key chains, etc... Some stores accept credit/debit.
        • You can get lost in here for hours. Reasonably priced crafts from around Mexico...some junk, of course, but really there should be something for everyone here!
        • Favorite craft market in CDMX. There are many stores, bright beautiful colors and so much to see. I particularly loves how relaxed this market was. No one pressuring you to buy anything, just kind and calm vendors. And many things are priced quite inexpensively.
        • Best market we have been to in Mexico. Has everything you could want and at reasonable prices. Most prices are basically fixed. 10% off would be considered a good negotiation here.
        • Apart from souvenir junk you can get quality handicraft from all the country here. Of course prices are higher than at the workshops where the items are made, but still they are reasonable. At the restaurant in the centre of the market you can get a decent lunch.
        • A wonderful little market with lots of nooks and crannys to explore. Everything is reasonably priced and I guarantee that you will be going home with something if not everything! Great for glasses, beadwork and carpets or blankets.
        • Amazing market. Some people on here say it's cheesy touristy stuff....not true. If you look well you will find amazing original authentic crafts from Oaxaca and Chiapas. I bought a hand carved jaguar mask carved right in front of me! There are many ignorant tourists as well which is the only bad part. You can usually barter for lowest prices.
        • A must go if you're visiting CDMX and love all things Mexico. It's the place to go to buy all your souvenirs and more. Although most the vendors sell basically the same hand made trinkets and items, there are some that stand apart. Be sure to practice your haggling skills.
        • You can find all Mexican handicraft in this market. Search for the best price, don't buy at first. Also, there is a nice restaurant inside. Good Mexican food and price
        • The best place in Mexico City to find crafts and souvenirs from all over Mexico. Prices are reasonable, the variety is impressive, and you can find a number of shops where the artisans themselves are working and selling. While some shops accept credit cards, it's best to bring cash. You can bargain a little bit especially when buying multiple items, but even if you don't haggle you'll get a fair price.
        • There are a lot of vendors, they're not particularly aggressive, and the market feels safe. This is a good place to go if you need to buy souvenirs quickly. My hesitation is that the stuff on sale here is the stuff you see everywhere. It's fine, but nothing unique.
        • Great shopping area filled with local arts and crafts. Many different options with plenty of hand made wares. Good spot to get lost in and wander around.
        • The best place to find traditional Mexican art, clothing and pretty much everything you can think of. Always look for better prices, some locals will offer the same product much more expensive, some places have codes instead of price tags, don't buy there, they exhibit other people's products (from within Ciudadela) at a higher price. There is a restaurant in there, food and drinks are served in a very traditional way, great food as well. Watch for the aisles you're on if you liked something in particular, you can forget easily where you were since most places look the same.
        • Great place to wander through enjoying the many different handcrafts. Everything from tiles to mirrors to clothing to ceramics to jewellery just to name a few things there. Many different stalls and stall holders very friendly but not demanding. Prices seemed good too and cheaper than shops by a long way. Go have fun and enjoy a taste of Mexico.
        • Amazing place to shop for Mexican made souvenirs etc. Great prices. No pressure to buy. Very relaxing place to visit. Places to eat and drink, served by friendly staff.
        • This is the best market to shop for handcrafted goods from all of Mexico under one roof. Everything is beautiful. I love to visit it everytime I am in Mexico City.
        • If you speak Spanish and know how to negotiate prices then its a great place to go buy souvenirs. Love the people and the quality of art that you can buy. Just make sure to double check prices before you buy because prices vary so much inside the market that you should go around without buying in the beginning and then go to the stores with the best prices.
        • great place and better prices but what we liked the most is the restaurant next to parking lot now that is real Mexican home cooking and cheap. That gets a 5 * Fonda Savor de Mexico
        • Souvenir trinkets, clothes ceramics & leather goods of every variety sold here. A one stop shop but quality is variable. Worth a visit. Some food stalls too.
        • The place is very charming and the sales folk are very nice BUT if you contrast the prices to those in Puebla for example you see that it can be up to 30% more. Still you are supporting local craftsmen and women and having a real mexico immersion in the process so worth it i say. HAVE CASH on you, you can pay by card in some places but that automatically means a 10 to 15% spike on prices since the stall owner would 1) pay fees for the bank 2) declare sales to gov.
        • Really interesting and lovely place to do some gift shopping. Just be aware if you are not a native Mexican, the prices you get charged may not be the same as a local! But to be honest, they are only trying to make a living and even the slightly elevated prices are still a bargain. The other thing to say is if you go to a stall and are not sure on the item for whatever reason, just look around, there will be another stall selling a similar item close by. This place, despite the outer appearances, is huge.
        • My mom. Is a collector of Mexican folk art, and she says this is the best place to shop in Mexico city. You will find plenty of kitschy tourist stuff but also plenty of unusual, and quality folk art if you look for it, and there is a lot to look at here. Most of the vendors are very respectful, they won't harass you as they do in some other places - huge plus! You do have to bargain, or you'll be paying more than you have to.
        • From tasteless to artsy. Guaranteed to find something of your taste to take home as a gift or for yourself. Good handmade toys too. Sales are not agressive which makes this a pleasure.
        • Great place to buy souvenirs, reasonably priced from super cheap to a little costly (silver jewelry and copper works). I went before i left. Next time I'll go during the trip
        • If you are looking to do a little shopping in Mexico city, this flea market will be your best friend. Everything is hand made and do rich, you cannot make a purchase and feel dissatisfied. All artistry is fine and well made. Everyone is nice and will not pressure you to buy. Will visit again.
        • A fantastic artisanal market place. One of the best places I've been to for getting souvenirs, gifts and general art pieces. Bought beautiful textiles, pottery and random bits and bobs. If you're down to visiting just one of these markets make it this one.
        • This we as a new place for us but we found a nice place to shop when we go back to Mexico city. Be aware the parking are it is small and you don't have to pay for parking. But they will take a donation from you.
        • Okay I googled this place and it claimed that it is perfect for finding gifts for cheap. You will definitely find your gifts, very NICE gifts might I add but, they are by no means cheap. You have to haggle a lot with the store owners if you want the price you want. If you want to grab gifts for friends and family make sure you set out some time for this place because you will have to bargain a lot to get what you want. You’re better off going around town and getting some gifts from street vendors.
        • Every single handcrafted article you can find it here. Do some bargain if you're not local even more if you're from Europe or the USA. Loved the place
        • Such a great place to buy mexican souvenirs! Great prices! Great people! Loved it♡
        • Really good selection of crafts and souvenirs, as a local, it was hard to find fair deals tho. I can't imagine what's like getting in there as a foreigner. However, the quality of the stuff and variety are great
        • It's getting nicer and nicer there! One of my favorit markets in Mexico City ,when I look for modern and handcrafted pieces . Prices are increasing as well.
