From staying on your own corner of one of the famous man-made islands (or - if you're truly flush - buying a part of it), to indulging in one of the towering five-star hotels, there’s little here which doesn’t revolve around luxury and money, and both are required in lavish quantities.

  Sharjah is one of the 7 emirates of United Arab Emirates. This is one of the smallest Emirates. The authorities in Sharjah still follow the Muslim law and is enforced much effectively than in other emirates. One has to be very careful while in this Emirate. Men should wear full Pants and no sleeveless T-Shirts. Ladies should wear proper covered cloths. On the lighter side, this Emirate is very good for shopping and has a lake where many families gather in the evenings for picnics, chats or evening exercise.
  
  Parking is a problem so a taxi is best although most of the shopping malls have covered parking facility. Alcohol consumption is banned in this Emirate. Sharjah is 25 minutes drive away from Dubai, so most of the tourist make Sharjah a location for day visit and head back to Dubai for the parties.

  We stayed for a week in mid November/16. The place is very clean and well kept. The focal point of the lobby is a floral display. It is visually stunning but the aroma can be over powering if one has allergies (which I did). When we arrived I was quite sick with a bad cold and the check-in agent ordered fresh squeezed juice be brought to me. It was really thoughtful. Overall the front desk staff are very coureous and friendly. We stayed in both an executive king room and premium king room. Both rooms were very tastefully decorated. No real view to be had in either room. Housekeeping was very thorough. On the one day our room was missed, they sent someone immediately to clean it. We did have a mix up with our rooms (caused primarily by communication between the hotel and Expedia) It took a bit of work to get it resolved and the situation added extra frustration to our trip. Ultimately, it was worked out to our satisfaction. They also were kind enough to put a fruit and date tray in our room. We weren't sure if it was because of the mix up with rooms or because it was for our birthday, but either way, it was appreciated. The front desk staff were very good. I found the day time concierge to have a dismissive attitude towards me. I wasn't sure if it was cultural as he was very friendly to my husband. The breakfast is barely adequate. The food was often cold and not much variety. Thankfully they made fresh omelettes on demand. The daytime breakfast manager was very good and attentive. We also tried the Mediterranean restaurant at the hotel, and was underwhelmed. They used the cheapest paper napkins, certain menu items were not available. The service was average. We also tried the jazz lounge as they had ladies night, their specials were confusing and it seemed as though their staff weren't sure what was going on. If I had one recommendation for the hotel, it would be to step up the quality and variety of their dining options. We often went across the street to the Byblos hotel to eat at the Crown and Lion pub. Which we highly recommend. Food was fantastic, service was friendly and the happy hour was straight forward.
