Users Assigned: KazmiLamanai’s Maya site is situated along the banks of River Lagoon which is roughly 30 miles long and is located in North Central Belize. In the Maya World, Lamanai also happens to hold the longest record of being occupied i.e. more than 3000 years. The remains of two Spanish churches from the 16th century and colonial sugar mill from 1860 have been preserved in Lamanai Archaeological Reserve’s museum. This land also happens to have a tropical forest that offers breathtaking views from its temple tops. Altogether, Lamanai provides one with an inside view of Maya’s Culture and a closer look to examine and appreciate the biodiversity displayed by its tropical forests.

Great excursion for a day. The boat ride was fun and relaxing. The ruins were interesting and had a nice hike through the rain forest. Guides are friendly and knowledgeable.

This was one of the most incredible experience I've ever had. Seeing the few temples that we saw on our trip was amazing. They are well preserved, and so impressive to stand by. It was also awesome to walk up on top of the high temple. We also saw some wildlife, like a howler monkey and some lizards. It was really impressive and I'd love to go back and visit.

Very hot! Never been to any Mayan ruins and these were pretty impressive. That and the fact that we were allowed to climb to the top of the temples.. Reached by river boat down New River, what an experience 👍

Great trip down the river to see amazing ruins. Climb to the top of a few tall temples. Incredible wildlife diversity

Wonderful archaeological Mayan site. Recommend arriving by boat although you can get there by car. Pay attention and you may see AND HEAR the local howler monkeys.
