Users Assigned: KazmiThis Sand Sea comes together with the major contribution of the powerful windblown, rolling sand dunes. They are known to range from 25 by 10 km’s in size and have an approximated height of 300m. Merzouga, a town designated near Algeria’s border is the closest possible town which lays 9 to 10 hours’ a drive away from Marrakech or Fes.
This area is known for camels and trekking and also is marked by a number of guesthouses and hotels that provide shelter, food and plan expeditions led by proper guides. The erg is most visibly impressive around dawn and dusk when its color can shift from golden to orange to pink within a short period of time.

MerzougaMerzouga is a small village in south-eastern Morocco. It is located right on the edge of a large Saharan erg (sand sea) named Erg Chebbi. Merzouga is about 35km's from Rissani and a paved road now connects it to the rest of Morocco. It is approximately 50km's from the Algerian border.
There are many hotels, guesthouses and guide services popping up in the area, as it is a very popular base for travelers wanting to venture out onto the dunes via camel or 4x4 for day, or overnight excursions. There is also a lake in the area which is sometimes frequented by pink flamingos.Merzouga, Morocco

Awesome, stunning, beautiful. We went on a 3-day trip from Marrakesh that included a Camel-ride 3 hours into the red sand dunes of Erg Chebbi and an overnight-stay in a Berber tent camp with food, campfire, djembre drumming session and lesson, and an amazing nightwalk through the dunes. Glowing red, fine and clean sand, sunset, sunrise, night-sky full of stars... an unforgettable experience!.

Have been on my bucket list to visit the desert and stay the night. Definitely wouldn't miss stargazing late at night and watching the sun rise. Can't forget the sunset camel ride across the done. I'll definitely do this again if given the option. What an adventure! We stayed at a luxury tent which I recommend as there was hot water and washroom available for everyone's convenience. It's also quite chilly in the desert at night (we went in December) so make sure to bring enough layer of clothing. Don't forget to wake up early for the amazing sunrise (sun rises around 7 ish and sets around 5:30 ish).

Fantastic view , it is worth to climb on a biggest dune ,but its not an easy task :-)
