Cartago ProvinceCartago is east of San Jose and has many services. Also there is the very impressive Jubileo de la Misericordia, Diocesis De Cartago, catholic church. In regular hours the church s wide open to the public for worship or to admire the structure and windows. Please be respectful while in the church.
Also in Cartago is the free ridge top Mirador Orosi park for viewing or having a Bar-B-Que lunch.
Cartago is also the gateway to the great active Irazula Volcano that is wheel chair accessible for a person with spunk. There is a great view into the live volcano cone. Get there early to avoid the tropical clouds that will later arrive to obscure the volcano.
Cartago is also nearby the popular Landcaster Botanical Gardens that is well worth the visit.

Really a nice slice of heaven. The staff is amazing and saved our vacation. We left our passports and ALL our vacation cash in the safe in our hotel room after we checked out. We discovered this two hours away and called the resort right away. They asked us to come back and after a stressful two hour drive back security met with us and returned all of our cash and passports. It was amazing the professional manner of the security and loss prevention people working at the hotel. They saved our vacation As this was the first day and place we arrived at. Thanks!!!!

This is an island of pure luxury in the middle of the business district of the city. A short walk to a mini mall where they have everything. The hotel is one of the best Marriott I've ever seen. The open-air gives a great Caribbean or Latin feeling. The huge bar with plenty of craft beers and staff that is always right there when you need them. Two dynamite pools and plenty of Lounge furniture with umbrellas and a beautiful waterfall. Don't forget to take your camera to the top floor and get a panoramic view. The rooms lack nothing - huge with plenty of furniture. The gym is super well-equipped and the spa is twice better than you can imagine... Don't miss either one. The breakfast buffet is to die for and I don't understand why you never see any flies anywhere but I love it.

This is an amazing hotel and very close to the airport. We had a first class experience from the time we walked into the hotel till we checked out. Also walkable distance to a small strip mall where there is a am/pm (this is like Seven Eleven in the US) and a great Italian restaurant.

I stayed here at a conference and would return for a personal trip. The setting is lovely. The staff friendly and competent. I had a pool side room and found the short trip the pool perfect for an enjoyable dip.

Where do you even begin? The hotel is perfectly located for those looking to do either a pre tour prep or post tour relax from their excursions through Costa Rica. A few minutes from the airport, with a complementary shuttle, it is ideally located. The rooms are beautiful and the hotel is perfectly decorated in colonial fashion. The staff are very friendly, the amenities plenty and the views stunning. The breakfast buffet is extravagant and plentiful. Nothing in the hotel keeps you wanting. PS: you can get your rental car here, which is actually a lot more comfortable than organising it from the airport.
