Central America is one of the most diverse places on the planet. Its history stretches back thousands of years to the days of the Mayans and the Aztecs, and over the years the landscape has been dotted with settlements from the French, the British, and more. Most commonly referred to as Latin America, or at least the northern part of the region, the area includes countries such as Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, and Honduras. If you are looking for adventures that are of a different flavor than Europe or North America, then this is absolutely the spot you want to come to.

With a summer climate and landscapes ranging from the lush, tropical forests of Belize, to the coffee plantations of the Orosi Valley in Costa Rica, be prepared to find yourself continually amazed by the beauty and cultures of Central America. Visit the highlands of Guatemala and the vast sprawl of Mayan ruins in the Petén region of this Central American country. Take a trip to Honduras and experience the coastlines of the Pacific Ocean on one side and the Caribbean Sea on the other, with the Honduran Rainforest in between. Raft down the rivers of Belize which through the caves and forests, or head up into the Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve for some of the freshest air on the planet, and a panoramic views to go along with it.

Central America is melting pot of cultures, with people who are as varied as the geography that undulates between North and South America. Decedents of African slaves brought over centuries ago have mingled in with Mayan and Aztec decedents, along with Spanish, French, and British, and coupled with the indigenous tribes make up over seven percent of the world’s bio-diversity. The food is as unique as the cultures, and when combined with the lush environment, the arid peaks, and the vast range of tropical and coastal destinations make Central America one of the premier travel destinations for the adventurer needing a little something extra.
