    • Tel Aviv District
The second largest city in Israel, second only to Jerusalem, Tel Aviv is a bustling metropolis that has given rise to a new way of life for many Israelites, a modern city in a land where the history stretches back to the dawn of civilization. While Jerusalem might be only a short distance down the road, filled to the brim with holy sites and religious wonders, and the surrounding countryside might be packed with thousands of years of history, Tel Aviv is anything but reserved and historical. This is the throbbing heart of modern Israel, a city that the citizens have termed their own version of New York. If partying on the coast of the Mediterranean with some of the hottest people in the country is more to your liking, then Tel Aviv is absolutely the place you want to be.

Technically, Tel Aviv is still relatively small when compared to some of the world’s largest cities, but that doesn’t stop her from pulling out all the stops for residents and visitors. This is a place where the modern vibe is strongest, giving rise to what is now considered the Middle East’s second largest city economy. It has transformed in the past decade into a haven for international travelers who are keen on enjoying a party atmosphere while taking in the Mediterranean, far removed from the more intimate havens that exist along the coast in other countries such as Spain or Italy.

Tel Aviv is a beach destination, of that there is no doubt, but the city is also a major cultural center for Israel, with some of the best performing arts venues in the country. Beyond the clubs, the shows, the beaches and the resorts are the markets, giving visitors an excellent opportunity for taking in some true Middle Eastern sounds and tastes. All in all, Tel Aviv is one of the brightest spots in the Middle East right now, and is accessible to all levels of travelers.

    • Ashkelon

It is one of the coastal cities of Israel and is based in its Southern district. It is situated on the coast of Mediterranean Sea and is located approximately 50 km south from Tel Aviv and about 13 km away; the Gaza strip’s adjoining border is found to be in its north. Ashkelon owns a seaport which is as ancient as the Neolithic Age. The city has been ruled by numerous states. The list goes from the Canaanites, Philistines, Egyptians, Israelites, Assyrians, Babylonians, Greeks, Phoenicians, Hasmoneans, Romans, and Persians all the way to the Arabs Crusaders before being destroyed in 1270 by the Mamluks. During the Ottoman’s rule, Majdal Ascalun, an Arab village, was constructed in the 16th century. It was nearby the national ancient site. Later on, in 1918, Majdal was included into the British Occupied Enemy Territory’s Administration. In 1920, it was added to the Mandatory Palestine.

Israeli’s fought for their independence against the Arabs in 1948 in which they successfully occupied Majdal on 5th of November. 11,000 Arabs were forced to leave and the place was inhabited by Jewish people instead. The area initially went by multiple names such as Migdal Gaza, Migdal Ashkelon and Migdal Gad. The integration of Afridar’s surroundings commenced in 1953 and the area was reassigned its original name “Ashkelon”.

Ashkelon came in 18th amidst other urban centres in Israel with a population of 24000. Ashkelon Khan Museum has a lot of archaeological artefacts .An outdoor museum is based near the municipal cultural centre exhibiting two Roman funeral coffins. They are made of marble portraying mythological stories or scenes from battles and hunting sprees are displayed. Many remnants from the 4th century have been displayed in the Barnea Quarter. Byzantine Church remains are one to name with its marble floors and mosaic walls. Synagogues from this duration are also exhibited. Sheikh Awad’s tomb is a dome-like structure which provides a wonderful overview of the northern beaches of Ashkelon.

Northwards of Ashkelon Park, about two km away is the Roman burial tomb which was found in 1937. Apart from this burial tomb, there are others as well. Hellenistic and Roman Caves happen to be two of them. Paintings of water waves, mythological figures and nymphs make Hellenistic cave special.
