Good value, basic, conveniently located hotel on A2 near Barcelona
I've seen this place many times while travelling on the A2 to and from Barcelona. I've often wondered what it would be like to stay. Well I got my chance. I'd dropped off the wife and kids at the airport and I didn't fancy the 3hr drive home at 11pm at night. So I figured this was a good opportunity. It was a good choice for me. It was the middle of July - yet the huge car park was practically empty. There was a very helpful and chatty guy on reception; I was pleasantly surprised when he told me the price of the room - just 32 Euros - I just wanted to crash for the night, and get up and go - so this was perfect. The hotel is basically a time warp from the 80s. The decor and furnishings appear not have to be touched since then - anyway I didn't care as I wasn't there to admire it. It was a bit cold when I woke up, but what view! My room was facing the motorway, and you can see the Montserrat mountain to the left, and the whole vista of the Barcelona area - beautiful. The car park is enormous - perfect for trailers & caravans or trucks & buses, that is unless it somehow magically fills up; regardless there is lots of waste land further up the street in the surrounds I'm sure you'd find a spot. I was able to park directly outside the front door. It appears that they focus on weddings and other events as the function rooms looked recently used (and one was revamped in a more modern style). The village of El Bruc is a fair walk away, you can get an hourly bus to Barcelona from there - would be interesting to know if it stops near the hotel too. The morning receptionist told me it did, but I couldn't confirm the stop. If it is it might be a convenient place to park a large vehicle and avoid driving anywhere near Barcelona - catch the bus in to explore.
