Corfu is famous island for multiple reasons. One being it is the most densely populated island in its region.
One town in Corfu is a Kastropolis, which is a city surrounded by two fortresses. According to UNESCO, it is a heritage monument and keeps its English and French influences prominent.
It was the first island in the region to allow tourists onto it, as well as the first University, bank, electricity factory and theatre of the Hellenic region.
Some people say that a cricket team was housed in Hellas, which is also the most advanced place of musical and thinker traditions.
It also houses the only Georgian style fortress outside of the UK, naked the fortress of Saint Michael of George.
It was the only part of the region that never gave into the tyranny of the Ottomans.
