  • The Big Oak is impressive!
The Sherwood Forest, just outside Nottingham was on our travel itinerary when I traveled with my girlfriend across the UK in August 2016. The forest has become legendary for the tales of Robin Hood, an outlaw who supposed to have wondered these woods. Nowadays the forest is smaller than it used to be but still remains a big tourist attraction in this part of England. The Big Oak, is the main attraction in the forest, and is around 800 – 1000 years old. The tree is partially supported by a scaffolding system. It is said that the tree was the meeting place between Robin Hood and his Merrie Men. We walked on the trail from the parking to the tree, not really sure what to expect. Would we be disappointed? It turns out we weren’t. Seeing the Big Oak is quite an impressive view.
