        • This has been one of my longest standing favourite gardens in Kyoto, although I have yet to visit when the legendary azaleas are in bloom. The most recent visit was during a light snow and beautiful nonetheless. It is currently undergoing some restoration to the roof that will no doubt guarantee its preservation for generations. The main draw for me is the humble wabi sabi infused building and its uppermost dry and wet gardens as seen from the veranda.
        • A little tough to get to, and the quiet entrance is easy to miss; the persistent traveler will be rewarded with one of Kyoto's most serene gardens. Good weather will allow you to walk around the garden, and contemplate to the sounds of trickling water or the wind in the bamboo. No interior photography is allowed, but the real highlights are outside (where photography is allowed)
        • Atmosphere, atmosphere and atmosphere! Visit here once during autumn, the maple trees are amazingly beautiful. Unlike other famous place in Kyoto, Shisen -do has its own unique atmosphere.
        • Tiny temple with a small garden. Not crowded.
        • Peaceful mind
