• Monastir

  Monastir is known as Monastir Governorate’s capital city and is located on the Tunisian Sahel’s central shores in the northeastern region. This place which was traditionally known as a fishing port has grown into the main attraction for tourists. Beaches falling outside the city premises are heavily lined with all-inclusive tax resorts. Monastir is home to approximately 41,400 people.

  The city was discovered in the midst of Ruspina’s Punic-Roman city ruins. The city has a Ribat which has been well preserved over the years specifically for the purpose of scanning hostile ships sailing on sea waters. This was a preferred spot by most Ulemas when they wanted to contemplate about issues. The Ribat was also used as a shooting location in Life of Brian.

• Kairouan

  Kairouan is a mixture of new buildings and very old houses. Kairouan has one big mosque this is a very important one for whole Tunisia. They call Kairouan the holy city. This town is also very famous for it carpets. And of course you should visit the medina. This one is very big. It is almost impossible to walk around the medina. Somewhere i really don't know anymore is a restaurant in the opposite of the medina. Busses wil stop there also, you enter a very special restaurant. I have never seen such a beautiful style inside of the restaurant. They serve a Tunisian diner. Very cheap!
