    • Istanbul
Istanbul is probably one of the hottest destinations in the 21st century when it comes to the European-Asian side of the world. Along with being the most populated city in Turkey, Istanbul has been one of the major center points of the world for literally thousands of years. Once known as Constantinople and Byzantium, and home to one of the last Roman outposts for a thousand years before it was conquered by the Ottoman ruler Sultan Mehmed II and subsequently becoming part of a Muslim nation, Istanbul is one of those mystical destinations that boasts near-mythical history and legends which surround the architecture and imbue the visitor with a sense of wonder, as well as an almost ethereal out-of-this-world vibe that cannot be matched anywhere else in the world.

Today, Istanbul is a tourist city. Due to its history as a center of several different empires, the number of historic and religious monuments and buildings is staggering the very least. From the Hagia Sophia, the Sultanahmet Mosque, the Galata Whirling Dervish Hall, or the famous Turkish baths, everything here feels as though it's been stripped out of the past and transported to the 21st century.

The nargile, or Turkish water pipe, is a centerpiece of Istanbul’s social setting. Commonly known as a hookah, there are various places throughout the city where you can literally sit down and simply smoke. Tobaccos range from fruit flavored to vanilla and chocolate and more, and should absolutely be enjoyed. In addition, Turkish coffee and Turkish delight are two of the most important things to taste while you are in Istanbul, because you will not find better anywhere else in the world. On top of that, Turkish cuisine is legendary, and there are the literally hundreds of restaurants to choose from. Between the mosques, the churches, the synagogues, the castles, the restaurants, the gardens, the nargile cafes, and the otherworldly feel of the place, Istanbul will leave you wondering if it was all just a dream, and waiting for the next time you can experience her charms.

      • Nice hotel but no water in the toilets. Shame for the managers! It is a Muslim country! Not a European city!. Shame for Ciragan hotel managers!
      • I have made reservation to this hotel prior to all the bombings in Istanbul, but then tried to cancel the reservation due to notifications of the US state department warning about travel to Turkey, they were nasty and charged us for a full hotel stay despite us trying to cancel way ahead of the travel date, did not even offer us credit for future stay. As they have written " we guarantee the safety of our guest" I guess "Istanbul airport" had such guarantee as well !!! Terrible people and dishonest. Truly thank you Seline Akyildiz and Arda Coban for taking advantage of us.
      • The best location and pool in Istanbul. The staff was amazing and anticipated every need.
      • One of the finest hotels in Istanbul overlooking the Bosphorus. The history behind the palace, how it was burnt down and rebuilt adds to the charm. The Kempinski label always lives to its reputation.
      • Perfect place and perfect location! Must be experienced!
      • very expinsive and over rated. old furniture but clean. very nice staff.
      • Had a cup of coffee in restaurant not bad
      • Ciragan Palace Kempinski is amazing. Good Location. Bosphorus view. Banquet hall is super.
      • Beautiful hotel. Very helpful staff and great location. Food was amazing too.
      • Nice place but the carpet too old and smells
      • Wonderful historical place .. amazing view ... excellent service
      • It is a palace turned into a hotel. The restaurant food quality is excellent ottoman royal foods(cannot say enough ) but I was expecting dress code in the restaurant. The atmosphere and the setting is nice has a view of bosphorus.
      • Went there for lunch. Oh boy where to start.. The security lady who xrays your bags, has the nerve to be inquisitive if we were guests or not and what we plan to do. Where did they pick her ? A former TSA ? Once seated, we ordered our drinks. The guy just placed the drinks on the table and walked way ! Palace ? BS. We were never asked if we wanted another beer or not. They do not care if you spend or not ! The food was poor and the portions suited for the anorexic crowd (nouvelle cuisine pushed to their extreme). We paid by the foot by skipping the deserts and the chai. These people do not and will never reach even the heels of the Four Seasons.
      • Tarih lüks
      • Excellent service
      • A Historical Palace with a Prime Location, Breathtaking view of the Bosporus. The Architecture is fascinating! The Rooms are updated and the Food & Service is Superior.
      • Beautiful historical palace, high ceilings, amazing views of the bosphorus. Good quality service
      • The worst hotel ever. We had such a big expectation for this hotel we are staying in, The name, - “Kempinski,”,-5star hotel, where have stayed so many great people., hotel, which have many good reviews., and also hotel which crashed all our expectations in instance, hotel, where we have been harassed and embarrassed. We have been served the most disgusting dinner at the pool bar restaurant and to make our evening a bit better took a walk around to take some photos for a good memories. My husband and I using a very highly professional camera as a hobby for the last 20 years, been amateur photographers, we never had a problem taking photos anywhere we have stayed in. And believe me as we travelled a lot around the world. As we came in to the lounge area of the hotel I have sit down on the chair and husband took a photo of me. Then security approach us asking: are you guest in this hotel? We said-yes, then she said we need to go to the reception as we cannot make a photos in the hotel. Really? - we cannot take photos in the hotel? Never heard that before!!! That phrase ruined it all together, we felt harassed, is it our appearance, is it the colour of the skin of my husband?, or something else?! When we came to the reception we have asked to speak to the manager, the woman Fatima Yuksek present herself as a duty manager as the general manager wasn’t available and she wasn’t sure when he is on duty. She have tried to tell us that we are not allowed to take any pictures of the hotel using our professional camera, but she wasn't even know what camera my husband had been holding., but it look professional. As we were very disappointed and felt harassed on the front of other customers and employees of the hotel we asked to provide the policy, written policy, which stated that the customers are not allowed to use the camera to make the photos of the hotel, on which the duty manager said that only mobile phones are allowed. Of course she or the hotel doesn't have such a policy. So tell me why they have harassed us? We have embarrassed ourselves on the front of everyone. Are this hotel still in the 18 century? I thought it's 21st --haha. To take a photo of my wife on the corner of the lounge wall, how is it possible to break any policies that even not exist? We urged the general manager Ralph Radtke to come forward and provide the written policy about photography to the Trip Adviser or the hotel website, unless we are really deserve a written public apology from the hotel who has insulted us, embarrassed on the front of the public and mislead us about hotel policies. Just about week ago we have stayed in "Kempinski St Petersburg", where we had a great experience of our life with unbelievable customer service, great food and welcoming atmosphere. We are disappointed to say that your hotel doesn't deserve 5 stars, it's doesn't even deserve 3. Just to get an idea for the readers, last 2 weeks we have spent time in hotels like "St Regis" Moscow, "Kempinski" St Petersburg and "Alchymist Grand Hotel" Prague, where we had the best experience ever in all possible scenarios., and this was our final destination, "Kempinski" Istanbul, which have spoiled our all experience of celebrations 20 years wedding anniversary.
      • Best place to be. View is amazing. İt doesn't even matter if they have good food
      • Acik bufe kahvaltidaydim. Baya cesitli sushi bile vardi kahvaltida
      • Amazing place! From the architecture right to the service ! The food at the restaurants is also amazing and the view too!
      • Former palace turned into a hotel, right on the Bosphorus. Spectacular! The deck area behind the hotel is stunning and contains a pool (with its own bar) as well as a second bar / hookah lounge area with great ambiance and fantastic vistas. A bit pricey, but worth the visit to "see how the other half lives"
      • The best hotel in Istanbul. Amazing Bosphorus View from the room. Delicious breakfast and very friendly and helpful staff
      • Needs lots of maintenance. However I wouldn't choose others over it. The hospitality, food and view are just perfect.
      • All the promotion photographs of this Hotel are of the "Palace" that was in fact burnt out in 1968 and reinstated in the 1980's/90's. Most of the Hotel rooms are in a nasty building along side. At best my room was a 2*, and frankly that is generous. It felt like a tired room in a business hotel at an airport! If you are looking for Ottoman splendour, you will not find it here. I booked three nights but only stayed one night. I moved Hotel to Soho House Istanbul that was the best decision as it was absolutely fantastic!
      • very nice luxury hotel and co-operative staff. Nice breakfast. Beautiful garden and view. SPA average
      • Facilties were same as all other hotels at this level although the price was far more. From our experience across the world at this level the service was lacking and worse was the general attitude of trying to get something out of you whether the sour face and look from a member of staff that thought a tip was to small to staff recommending local venues that were awful undoubtedly because they get a commission. As an example even the concierge recommended an hotel car at 47 euro because it was only slightly more expensive than a regular taxi, on the return trip a taxi was around 10 euros. When challenged immediately stated sorry he had made a mistake! The level of English and understanding (even assistance) was poor on reception and we had to ask for what was advertised in the package we booked to get it such as late check-out! Rooms were not available at the alloted 2pm check in stated and waited another 1.5 hours, although not a particular issue to us it was awful that the reception stated they did not know what time they would be available originally! It took someone more senior after complaining to be bothered and get an answer from housekeeping! On the plus side food good, views good and rooms good. Overall disappointing to all four of us and will be keeping to the usual Istanbul hotels we stay at such as Shangri-la in future.
      • Very tiny portions. I don't know how they can justify coke to be for 25 Liras when you can get it for like 3 Liras anywhere else, it's not like they make their own coke! Yes, it's fancy and a good place to bring someone to impress them, but the food isn't that good. Please don't fall for the adjective overload on the menu, spices don't belong in a sherbat no matter whose king's wife it was the favourite drink of. You're allowed to take pictures inside the palace if you have a reservation, so that's pretty much the only significant highlight. I ate some gold covered chocolate mouse here, it was an interesting experience just to say I did it. I guess my main problem with expensive restaurants is that then taste of thenfood must justify the price, amd here it didn't. For example, the duck was basically one onion ting looking peice of puff pastry with barely any meat in it. Not filling at all!
      • I am reviewing this place based on my several visits both as overnight guest and as a customer to their restaurants. I also have been to several weddings here which is a very popular place for it in Turkey. This hotel is an old palace from Ottoman Era that has been renovated. It is very famous and considered top of line. It is a sign of luxury. The location is unbeatable. It's one of the best spots in İstanbul, if not in the whole Europe. It is right by the sea with great view. It is a great place to take photos but beware of the security. There are horror stories from customers with their experience with the hotel staff. As I said earlier, this place is a sign of upscale and luxury. So, you can imagine that everyone would like to come in to walk around and take photos. It is very understandable to have security to keep a tap on outsiders. The problem is that the security staff is not very well trained to handle the level of customers here. Yes, they can kick and spit on the poor side walkers to throw them out but what about hotel guests? How do you delicately ascertain the information? I am giving this place three star overall not because it's a 3 star hotel but because I am comparing it with other top notch 5 star hotels within the same price range. The service is consistently average. They were never able to impress me other than very few occasional times. I see the lack of training and experience as the source of the problem. You cannot afford average service in this kind of a hotel. Should you stay here? Yes, it's still a 5 star hotel. If you want to be in a great location in a historic palace and afford it, you should definitely stay. Would I stay here? I actually do, however my decision is strictly based on the location.
      • The kindness and helpfulness of the staff is apparent. Breakfast was good but not great. I expected a better taste for breakfast actually.
      • Here, were organized the "Ciragan festivities" . In the festivities, they were using the Miş'ale (flambeau). Because of that were called "Çırağan light festivals" and therefore, the area was called "Ciragan", which means light in Persian. The palace's architect Nigogos Balyan and the palace completed in 1871.
      • Everytime I visited this place I feel great, stunning views over Bosphorus Bridge and Istanbul, even if you’re there for a dinner or a drink it is highly recommended, not mentioning the hotel which is superb.
      • Bogazin essiz manzarasini guzel bi kahveyle susleyin!
      • Perfect choice!! Excellent service, great location. Best hotel I have ever stay in Istanbul.
      • its a really good place overall. Prices are high but it is worth it. the breakfast and foods are so great.
      • This is the best 5 Star Hotel in Istanbul! Located in Besiktas, directly at the Bosporus River. Outstanding Service through the whole hotel. From the arrvial to the departure, there is nothing to Claim. Amazimg Food, tasty Shisha and the Breakfast is a typical Kempinski Buffet Breakfast with regional and international products. Awesome Hotel!
      • Amazing hotel with tons of history and breath taking scenery. The view of the river and the bridge cannot be described by words. Their service is extraordinary and very welcoming.
      • Stayed at the Ciragan for a few days during a recent visit to Istanbul. The hotel truly is a relaxing oasis in the midst of a bustling Istanbul. The property, the amenities, the staff and services are definitely worthy of a 5-star rating. All of the staff are very attentive and professional, and I would especially like to mention Ms. Hajar Masmoud, who was our guest relations agent. Ms. Masmoud is very polite and responsive, and takes interest into the guests' expectations from the entire trip, providing recommendations and advice as necessary. Ciragan's spa is definitely worth visiting as there are a variety of treatments on offer with experienced staff. Dear Ciragan, thanks for the great stay!
      • High Tea at this luxurious hotel is worth every penny. They have done a fine job of blending an English tradition with local culinary selections. The view of the infinity pool extending into the blue Bosphorus alone is a must see. Have a look at the details of the furnishings in the hotel lobby, then take a stroll along the waterfront and the older palace next door with its grand marble staircases.
      • Absolutely stunning! Location, Ambience and service make the perfect stay. Very recommended
      • Epic and Romantic Palace. Top esperienze at the restaurant. You feel like a Pasha.
      • A great hotel, like all kempinsky hotels. The building is a majestic ottoman era palace. The Ciragan restaurant, offers a wide range of traditional Turkish and Ottoman dishes. Every dish is well prepared and well presented. The chef is always happy to make adjustments. Great selection of freshly baked bread and homemade spreads (butter, cheese, tomato)
      • Absolutely fabulous stay from June 27 to July 3, 2018! I cannot say enough good things about this wonderful hotel! Our butler Necmedin could not be more wonderful and did absolutely everything for us with a smile!
      • Great atmosphere with Bosphorus view and Ottoman palace design. Perfect place for conferences or launch activities for perception management
      • Actually I haven't stayed there but I have visited its lobby and its charming seafront yard. An stunning beauty of Istanbul is visible here and beside its perfect decoration you will defenitely feel relax. It's an upscale place so it's obvious that it may cost you an arm and leg trying something in its restaurant or cafe but I think it's really worth trying at least a cup of tea here and enjoy the beauty of Istanbul sunset...
      • Actually we just wanted to try its cafe but we were amused by its luxury building and shops in the lobby. The cafe has indoor and outdoor seats with good atmosphere and overlooking the sea. The staffs and security were so polite and helpful. Although its cafe is expensive, I think it worths trying once

      • It was quiet, relaxing, and the hotel staff was excellent. We went to an event next door at the palace itself. The infinity pool was very relaxing, as was our quiet room with a view of the Bosphorus.

      • It's been several years since I visited this hotel, however I wanted to leave my feedback about it. The staff were extremely courteous and friendly, and the room was great. The location and view of the water was breathtaking especially in the winter.
      • We had the post graduation party there, it was really disappointed from the awful music to the fake plastic cake at the end. You can rent nicer places for the same price on the phosphorus and get better service and results. The party turned out to be a bad day and i wrote an email complaining but they did not answer me, also we complained to the DJ about the awful slow songs they were choosing and instead-of fixing the problem they got fussy and left, lol and the DJ were just drinking Raki and chilling they even put a song where the singer flirting with the horse lol!! Bad bad bad service the did not take us seriously.
      • Breakfast menus could use more variety (the "à la carte" ones). Otherwise, excellent service, great views and courteous staff.
      • Best place in Bosphorus. Great view. Bar and restaurant is good. You can find special foods and drinks. Service and waitress are very kind and friendly.
